Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. seeks a Senior Design Engineer to support airline in-service repairs of aircraft structure, crafting certified repair solutions from a design perspective.

You will work with static stress and fatigue teams, access various software to explore configurations, and ensure airworthiness while meeting customer needs. The role is onsite at Airbus’ Wichita facility and offers extensive development opportunities.

Qualifications

• BS degree with emphasis on structural design and mechanics of materials.
• Nine years of design experience with airframe structures.
• Experience in composite airframe structures.
• MRO/Fleet Engineering experience; MRB experience.
• Proficient with repair documentation (SRM, NTM, IPC).
• CATIA V5 and/or 3DExperience experience.
• Strong computer background including MS Excel and Google Suite.

• Independently create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for airlines and internal customers within given time scales.
• Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures and develop quality repair solutions.

Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.* Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures from the Maintenance Repair Organization and develop quality repair solutions. Create or modify a wide range of difficult repair tasks autonomously.* Collaborate with F&DT, Stress and other appropriate Airbus departments to develop optimum design solutions for the airline customer.* Apply extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.* Ability to obtain Repair Approval Technical Signatory.
