Job summary

Milwaukee Tool, based in Wisconsin, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects. You will apply first principles, build models, and mentor teammates to solve design challenges.

You’ll perform tolerance analyses, root-cause investigations, and system-level decisions for gear-driven mechanisms, with a focus on performance and user needs. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of machine design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD Modeling.
  • Experience with mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
  • Interest in construction tools and product development.
  • Experience with systems where closed-loop performance is critical.
  • Strong foundation in process control and applied statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical resource on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects.
  • Provide clear technical information to cross functional teammates and project teams.
  • Establish test regimens and deliver data analysis to support design recommendations.

Year after year, we deliver industry-leading advancements in concrete solutions, and we're just getting started.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead technical resource on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects.Provide clear technical information to cross functional teammates, Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams, facilitating trade-off decisions.Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within project scope with minimal guidance; deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations.Serve as a technical resource and provide consultation/mentorship to engineering and non-engineering teammates alike.Apply first principles to create free body diagrams and develop static and/or dynamic models of new systems, leading the design analytically and supporting decision-making through rigorous engineering analysis.Perform mechanical stress analysis on linear and non-linear systems.Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve technical challenges.Execute tolerance stack analyses (statistical and geometric preferred).Design and analyze gear-driven systems and mechanisms, including sound and vibration/response of dynamic systems.Demonstrate system-level thinking by maintaining a holistic view of how interdisciplinary design decisions affect user needs and project delivery.Collaborate proactively with interdisciplinary peers to plan for and address issues that could impact schedule, cost, performance, or delivery of user needs.Create and execute plans to inform early-stage development using both empirical and analytical methods; develop structured approaches to investigate root cause and troubleshoot designs under cost, schedule, performance, and other constraints.Operate effectively in a high-paced and dynamic development environment.Motivate and support learning—actively seek opportunities to learn and teach others about new discoveries and best practices.What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering5 years of machine design experience, minimumStrong proficiency in 3D CAD ModelingDeep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, machine component design, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).Genuine interest in tools of the construction trades and a passion for innovative product development.Strong motivation to grow, learn, and be challenged by the unknownExperience in systems where closed-loop performance, accuracy, and repeatability are critical (e.g., robotics, automated assembly, precision torque/control systems).Strong foundation in process control and applied statistics, including capability metrics, variation reduction, and experimental design.Ability to think at the system level by showing an understanding how hardware, controls, and user/environmental inputs interact to influence performance consistency.BenefitsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.401(k) savings program with immediate vesting.Education assistance to support your ongoing growth.On-site wellness resources, including a fitness center, cafeteria, complimentary coffee, and more.Patent Award Program to recognize and reward innovation.Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.
