Job summary

CH Guenther & Son LLC seeks a Sr. Demand Planning Manager to lead demand planning across all business areas, integrating customer insight, analytics and forecasting tools.

You will guide forecast analysts, shape long-range volume projections, and align with financial goals while driving risk and opportunity assessment. The role demands 10+ years in supply chain, 7+ years in forecasting, and 5+ years of leadership, with strong cross-functional collaboration and ERP/SAP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, stats, math or related STEM field.
  • Master’s preferred in business analytics, supply chain or STEM field.
  • 10+ years in supply chain and 7+ years in forecasting/demand planning.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Cross-functional experience in Demand/Supply/SC planning.
  • Experience with APO/SAP or other ERP forecasting systems.
  • Active participation in an S&OP process.
  • Strong quantitative background and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and follow market trends and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Develop valid Demand Plans and refine continuous planning processes.
  • Coordinate with Forecast Analysts and stakeholders to include launches, seasonality, events, and promotions.
  • Develop long-range forecasting models and build staff to meet service and inventory objectives.
  • Lead monthly Demand Consensus reviews and communicate risks and opportunities.
  • Improve customer satisfaction and drive revenue through better forecasting.
  • Prepare reports and participate in the monthly S&OP process.
  • Set guidelines for demand planning activities including budgeting inputs.
  • Monitor performance indicators and analyze forecast improvement opportunities.
  • Provide the 'voice of reason' in cross-functional consensus forecasting.
  • Share management information on past/future forecasts and key drivers.
  • Leverage IT for data collection and cleansing.
  • Develop planning strategies for new and discontinued products.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Sr. Demand Planning Manager is responsible for managing the demand planning process for all business areas through the integration of customer and business intelligence along with business analytics and statistical forecasting and tools. The Sr. Demand Planning Manager will support the demand planning forecast analysts and the business by providing an integrative demand planning perspective for decision making and issue resolution. This role provides key business insights regarding long-range volume forecasts along with leadership in developing volume projection assumptions, risks, and opportunities that align with financial and business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure development of valid Demand Plans and continue to grow and refine the continuous planning process
  • Work with Forecast Analysts/Demand Planners and other key stakeholders to ensure total volume incorporates new item launches, seasonal volume, events, and promotions
  • Develop long range forecasting models, processes, and skilled Forecast Analysts/Demand Planners to meet customer service and inventory objectives
  • Lead monthly Demand Consensus review process ensure that risks and opportunities are communicated and resolution plans are in place and identify risks and opportunities associated with achieving volume plans
  • Improve customer satisfaction while supporting revenue and profit growth through improved forecasting
  • Prepare reports and presentations and participate in the monthly S&OP process
  • Set guidelines for implementation and execution of all demand planning activities to include material and customer level forecasting and the demand side for the annual budget process
  • Monitor business specific performance indicators and perform post period analysis to determine forecast improvement opportunities
  • Provide the 'voice of reason' when working cross functionally to develop and communicate a consensus forecast that drives supply chain planning
  • Provide information to management as needed regarding past periods, future forecasts and associated key drivers
  • Leverage IT for collecting and cleansing data
  • Develop planning strategies for new and discontinued products
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Education/Certifications: A Bachelor’s degree in business, business analytics, statistics, mathematics or a related S.T.E.M. field
  • Master’s in business, supply chain, business analytics, or related S.T.E.M. field is preferred
  • Experience: Must have 10+ years professional experience in supply chain
  • Must have 7+ years of relevant experience in forecasting or demand planning
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in team leadership
  • A cross functional background with experiences in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and / or Supply Chain Planning is desired
  • APO/SAP or other forecasting/ERP systems
  • Active participation in an S&OP process is required
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Quantitative background with strong problem solving and analysis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to identify/clarify complex issues, analyze causes, identify alternatives and move solutions forward into action
  • Strong written and verbal communication of forecasting/demand planning information in simple and concise terms
  • Strong systems acumen, including forecasting and ERP systems
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with diverse groups of associates and customers ranging from entry level to executive level positions
  • Strong ability with reading and following market trends
  • Passion for learning with strong problem solving and collaboration skills
  • Strong end-to-end supply chain knowledge and business acumen
  • Ability to prioritize projects and clearly communicate direction internally and externally
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness and/or noise
  • Work environment involves moderate exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, fire and electrical hazards
  • Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, push and reach in order to perform various functions.
  • Must be able to communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location. C.H.
