Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Data Scientist for SMAI Global OI Scheduling and Simulation to design and implement advanced scheduling, optimization, and simulation solutions that drive fab performance.

You will collaborate with global manufacturing sites, apply AI and optimization techniques, and develop analytics to deliver actionable insights for operations management. This role requires a growth mindset and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science or other quantitative disciplines with strong emphasis on optimization, simulation, and algorithmic problem-solving.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on or experience in factory scheduling, optimization modeling, or simulation in a manufacturing or operations context.
• Able and willing to travel overseas.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess a drive to make a difference and a passion for exploring new frontiers.
• Highly motivated, proactive, with a strong work ethic, able to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science or other quantitative disciplines with strong emphasis on optimization, simulation, and algorithmic problem-solving.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on or experience in factory scheduling, optimization modeling, or simulation in a manufacturing or operations context.
• Able and willing to travel overseas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in optimization (LP, MIP, meta-heuristics) and tools like CPLEX/Gurobi.
• Knowledge and experience in discrete event simulation and reinforcement learning.
• Direct experience with factory scheduling.
