The Job

This Sr. Data Scientist role will be a key member of SCAN's Enterprise Analytics team, responsible for end-to-end analyses using advanced analytics techniques to support various use cases across the health plan. Use cases include member segmentation, multivariate analysis, longitudinal predictive models, lifetime value calculations, and collaboration with the Emerging Technologies team on innovative uses of LLMs. The role involves collaboration with business and IT leaders to develop and implement data and analytics strategies.

You Will
  • Drive implementation of scalable advanced analytics (machine learning, NLP) to derive insights from untapped data, including building predictive models, optimization models, segmentation, NLP techniques, causal inference, geospatial analytics, and more.
  • Identify and prioritize analytics use cases based on high-value opportunities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and vendors to create requirements, test and train models, communicate findings, and support ongoing model use.
  • Shape and implement SCAN’s data science and AI strategy, manage multiple projects, and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications
  • Graduate or advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field (preferred).
  • 4+ years healthcare industry experience.
  • 6+ years experience with quantitative methods, including modeling, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
  • 3+ years experience with SQL; 4+ years with R, Python, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks, Streamlit, and LLMs is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Medicare Advantage or managed care is a plus.
  • Strong business and technical analytical skills, excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
