Overview

Sr Data Engineering Architect, Manager at Avanade. Our Data & AI team helps clients transform their business with the latest AI and data technologies. This role focuses on solutioning, guiding complex deliveries, and shaping strategy using data platforms, reporting, real-time intelligence, and AI engineering.

Using modern data platforms, visualizations, advanced analytics, machine learning, IoT/Digital Twins and applied intelligence, we help clients gain business insights to optimize operations, drive innovation, and make empowered decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for client opportunities, engaging in solutioning and supporting on strategic opportunities, and contributing to the strategic direction of data platforms, reporting, self-service analytics, real-time intelligence and AI engineering.
• Intervene in high-risk, complex deliveries and shape architectures that deliver high-value business outcomes.
• Design and present design artifacts for architectural forums attended by multi-disciplined stakeholders from engineering to senior client executives.
• Lead the evolution of data and AI capabilities (structured/unstructured data analysis, streaming data, IoT, AI, GenAI) and the deployment of data platform solutions (Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Fabric, Cloud Scale Analytics, etc.).
• Engage with sales teams to shape deals, provide high-level design, estimates and contractual details for client proposals, and support deal qualification and origination.
• Collaborate with Data & AI leadership to shape offerings, accelerators, and background IP to support GTM activities.
• Drive best practices for AI development, including data management, model training, fine-tuning, and deployment, and lead multi-year engagements in Data & AI.

Qualifications

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft and Databricks
• Experience in Data, Applied Intelligence, Automation, IoT and related technologies
• Awareness of channels to market and how to work in a Microsoft and partner ecosystem to ensure customer success
• Ability to articulate technical visions, high-level architectures, and delivery roadmaps for large programs involving the latest AI concepts, with a focus on scaling AI across enterprises
• Deep understanding of responsible data platform and migration principles, regulatory frameworks, and risk mitigation while delivering impactful solutions
• Capability in creating design artifacts and presenting them for approval at architectural forums
• Understanding of modern Data & AI capabilities (structured/unstructured data, streaming, IoT, AI, GenAI)
• Experience designing and delivering large-scale data platform solutions using Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Fabric, Cloud Scale Analytics, etc., with attention to performance, security, and reliability
• Comfortable engaging and leading sales and business development opportunities with clients

About You

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design, implementation, and support of highly distributed applications; experience with large enterprise cloud data projects

• As an architect on a client project, provide technical leadership, shape deals and propositions, drive architectural decisions, create plans and roadmaps, and produce design artifacts
• Contribute to Avanade's sales process by shaping high-level designs and collaborating with SMEs on proposals
• Mentor junior colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across the organization
• Translate complex technical concepts into audience-appropriate language and demonstrate value to senior business stakeholders
• Support early client conversations and deal qualification, capture requirements, and recommend best practices to achieve outcomes
• Collaborate with Data & AI leadership to shape offerings and go-to-market initiatives
• Drive data & AI platform development, real-time reporting, and governance initiatives
• Stay current with advancements in Data & AI and incorporate relevant innovations
• Identify cross-industry solutions at scale and pursue data migration, automation, visualization, and governance initiatives
• Support and drive multi-year engagements and managed services for Data & AI
