Job summary

PlanIT Group, LLC is seeking an experienced data engineering leader to partner with the EDM Data Engineering team in Richmond, VA, building a centralized data warehouse with pipelines and database development. You will mentor engineers and drive data warehousing initiatives end-to-end.

The role requires 7+ years in data warehousing, deep Azure experience, and strong SQL/ETL skills, with a track record of leading teams to deliver analytics solutions.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of data warehouse development experience.
• Expertise with Azure data services (Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse).
• Strong SQL, ETL, and dimensional modeling experience.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Partners with the EDM Data Engineering team to develop, troubleshoot, and implement a centralized data warehouse solution including data pipelines and database development. Leads other engineers and individual work steams where needed.

Technical Skills Required

• Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office Suite of Tools
• Must demonstrate hands-on Microsoft Azure experience working with the following Microsoft Azure data technologies: Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, and Synapse.
• Experience with, and ability to recommend Azure monitoring solution using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and custom monitoring scripts.
• Intermediate working knowledge of Azure Logic Apps, scripting languages like ARM, Bicep DSL, Python, PowerShell or other custom solutions. Experience using one or more of the previous technologies to perform Azure DevOps releases.
• Advanced experience working with relational and non-relational databases, dimensional models, advanced SQL queries, stored procedures and functions, data warehouses, ETL processes, and database management systems.
• Advanced experience with SQL Server development technologies like Integration Services (SSIS), Visual Studio, .Net language, Management Studio (SSMS).
• Good data analysis skills including data cleansing and preparation, data exploration and user story maps.
• Advanced experience with Azure data environment, tools, products as noted for a Data Engineer.
• Exceptional data analysis skills.

Experience

• Minimum 7-10 years of data warehouse development experience
• Minimum 3-5 years working in MS Azure environments and SQL databases
• Minimum 5 years of leading teams to develop and implement data warehousing and analytics solutions
