Job summary

Blu Omega LLC is seeking an experienced data engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines in a hybrid work environment based in Ashburn, VA or the greater Washington DC area.

You will develop data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures using Databricks and Azure Data Factory, ensuring data is accessible for analytics, reporting, and data science while maintaining governance and security standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or similar roles.
• 6+ years hands-on Python and SQL experience with scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• 2+ years with Azure Data Factory and 1+ year with Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of data integration, modeling, and governance.
• U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency and Public Trust eligibility.

Job description

Blu Omega LLC supports data modernization and analytics initiatives for federal agency data needs, and this role helps deliver enterprise-scale data platforms in a hybrid work environment based in Ashburn, VA 20147 or the greater Washington, DC / Maryland / Virginia area.

You will design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT and lakehouse-ready architectures, partnering with cloud engineering and cross-functional teams to help ensure data is integrated, governed, and usable for analytics, reporting, and data science.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
• Build, optimize, and manage scalable data models, including data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse environments using Databricks
• Ingest, clean, validate, transform, and integrate large-scale datasets from APIs, relational databases, flat files, and unstructured sources
• Create data schemas and models that support analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives
• Implement data quality, metadata management, governance, and security controls to support trustworthy data
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to deploy and manage solutions in Microsoft Azure
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance and reliability using logging, alerting, and CI/CD practices
• Partner with data scientists and analysts to support evolving analytical requirements
• Document architecture, pipeline logic, data flows, and procedures to improve maintainability

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles
• 6+ years hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including scalable ETL/ELT pipeline development
• 2+ years experience with cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory
• 1+ years experience with modern data processing and lakehouse technologies such as Databricks
• Strong knowledge of data integration across diverse sources and formats
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and architecture
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance principles
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
• Public Trust eligibility required

Compensation

Salary Range: USD 150,000 - 165,000 per year.

Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
