Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking an Engineer, Systems Electrical Sr - Cybersecurity to lead validation of cybersecurity controls in automotive systems from test planning to reporting. The role involves designing test scripts, coordinating ECU validation schedules, and ensuring compliance with ISO/SAE 21434.

You will perform fuzz and penetration testing, work with suppliers, and produce cyber work products for end-to-end validation. Hybrid work with proximity to Novi, MI is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field; 5 years experience (or Master’s +2).
  • Experience validating cybersecurity controls (secure boot, secure reprogramming, security access, secure diagnostics, security gateway, IDS/IPS, code signing, authentication, encryption).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity regulations and standards including UNECE 155/156, CRA, ISO/SAE 21434.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts.
  • Experience with automotive/embedded system validation.
  • Experience with fuzz testing or penetration testing.
  • Familiarity with vehicle control systems, including Transmission, Twin EDU Inverter, and connected features.
  • Hybrid work arrangement permitted with manager approval.
  • Must reside within a reasonable distance of the Novi, MI office.
  • Must have authority to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with control systems engineers to plan test script development and software validation schedules.
  • Manage multiple ECU validation schedules and projects simultaneously.
  • Review cybersecurity requirements and vehicle system functionality.
  • Design test cases and develop test scripts for software validation.
  • Set up, execute, and analyze software validation results and report outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Execute fuzz testing, triage results, and work with cybersecurity team to prioritize issues.
  • Review supplier test reports and resolve identified issues with suppliers.
  • Support penetration testing across tools, benches, software, and calibration.
  • Produce ISO/SAE 21434 compliant work products for cybersecurity validation.
  • Develop software tools to support cybersecurity test automation.
  • Participate in TARA and cybersecurity discussions.
  • Review cybersecurity requirements and support design reviews to improve cybersecurity.
  • Support end-of-line cybersecurity testing development.
  • Analyze cybersecurity intelligence related to vulnerabilities and tools; contribute to the vulnerability database.
  • Manage existing cybersecurity testing tools and explore new tools and methods.

Responsibilities
  • Work with control systems engineers to plan test script development and software validation schedules.
  • Manage multiple ECU validation schedules and projects simultaneously.
  • Review and understand cybersecurity requirements and vehicle system functionality.
  • Design test cases and develop test scripts for software validation.
  • Setup, execute, and analyze software validation results, reporting outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Execute fuzz testing, triage results, and collaborate with the cybersecurity team to prioritize identified issues.
  • Review supplier test reports and work with suppliers to resolve identified issues.
  • Support penetration testing across testing tools, benches, software, and calibration from technical standpoints.
  • Produce ISO/SAE 21434 compliant work products and ensure cybersecurity validation meets product, supplier, and test lab requirements.
  • Develop additional software tools to support cybersecurity test automation.
  • Participate in TARA and cybersecurity discussions.
  • Review cybersecurity requirements and support design reviews to improve cybersecurity.
  • Support development of end‑of‑line testing for cybersecurity.
  • Analyze cybersecurity intelligence related to vulnerabilities, hacking tools, and methods; contribute to the vulnerability database.
  • Manage existing cybersecurity testing tools, investigate new tools and methods, and support refinement of cybersecurity validation strategies.
  • Participate in and support Auto‑ISAC working groups.
Qualifications
