Amazon’s SCALE organization seeks a Senior Cost Engineer to provide total construction cost engineering and planning for complex facilities, including high-rise distribution centers. You will drive ROM estimates, cost baselines, and performance metrics with cross‑functional teams spanning design, real estate, finance, and operations.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in program management, strong data analytics, and experience communicating with senior leaders.

The SCALE (Strategic Capital, Asset Lifecycle, and Expansions) organization within Amazon Last Mile is seeking a passionate and motivated Senior Cost Engineer to provide total construction cost engineering and planning for complex and technically challenging buildings including high-rise classification to customer fulfillment and logistics building designs.

The ideal candidate is innovative, organized, analytical, articulate, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable of the global design and construction industry. This individual must have a bias toward automation, including a track record of creating systems, benchmarks, and metrics to achieve cost certainty. Attention to detail, problem solving, and continuous improvement are required skills. The role will work with remote and cross-functional teams, including business leaders, design professionals, finance, and construction teams.

We are looking for a Program manager with great stakeholder engagement skills to be the liaison between a multitude of stakeholders including Topology, Long Range Planning, DSP Planning, HR, Legal, Finance, local Operations Leaders, and other planning teams. This role calls for an individual who can over index on Think Big to ensure there is a strong plan with no gaps, as well as Ownership to drive accountability from stakeholders and communication with Sr Leaders. This role’s scope necessitates the ability to solve ambiguous issues and provide effective solutions to gaps between teams, processes and systems.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for program initiation and strategic planning for new and established programs
• Create systems, tools, and templates for multiple types of estimates and project types including risk assessment
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including real estate transaction managers, and design program managers, to align cost objectives and project requirements
• Engage in value engineering initiatives to identify cost‑saving opportunities
• Prepare and present total cost management performance metrics and discussions at various levels
• Liaise with and manage third‑party architects, engineers, and cost estimators as required
• Validate and normalize historical construction cost data for integration into internal costing databases, forecasting, and planning
• Assist with the coordination of workshops that drive alignment on key issues, innovative design, and change management

A day in the life

Reviews and validates project cost inputs against historical benchmarks. Tracks Capex projections and flags budget variances at the portfolio level. Updates cost models and estimating tools with incoming bid data. Reconciles actuals against CAR‑approved amounts and investigates outliers. Partners with Construction and Finance on monthly cost reports, PO tracking, and forecast adjustments. Maintains the historical cost database with site‑level data. Provides quality‑gate reviews on CAR submissions prior to routing. Responds to ad‑hoc cost queries from leadership and execution teams.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of program or project management experience

• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

• Knowledge of general AI tools

• Experience working cross functionally with non-tech teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
