Job summary

EDG is seeking a Sr. Cost Control Specialist in New Orleans, LA, to support large utility projects. You will validate and report project costs, incorporate approved changes, and provide forecasts for assigned projects.

You will collaborate with accounting to reconcile invoices, create capital budgets and forecasts, and produce variance explanations while maintaining rigorous cost controls across multiple sites and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Requires High-School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a project cost analyst or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of cost control software and the ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

  • Work with project and discipline personnel to prepare cost expectations and tracking tools.
  • Understand project documents for cost control plans and reports.
  • Ensure integrity of accounting information and provide analytical services for utility projects.

The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams by performing cost control activities for a portfolio of large projects.Responsibilities will include validating and reporting project costs, incorporating trends or approved changes, and providing financial forecasts for assigned projects.

  • Work with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare project cost expectations and tracking tools;
  • Understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of cost control plans and reports;
  • Ensuring the integrity of accounting information and providing analytical services for utility projects;
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and completing key reports and providing analytical functions towards capital projects utilizing data and other critical deliverables;
  • Collecting, evaluating, and reporting Capital budget, project cost, work order closings and variance reporting;
  • Initiate, monitor, maintain and close out of capital work orders;
  • Create and analyze capital budgets, financial forecasts, reporting of actual financial results and variance explanations;
  • Work with accounting on reconciling invoices;
  • Assists in the preparation of accruals;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
  • Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Availability and ability to travel to client sites on occasion
  • Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project

  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
