Job summary

Trane Technologies in Texas is seeking a Field-based HVAC Technician to commission, program, and service controls on customer sites. You will perform end-to-end testing, document verification, and provide on-site support to ensure customer satisfaction.

The role requires a high school diploma or technical training, 7+ years in HVAC/Controls, and experience with DDC controls. A valid driver’s license and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential for daily field operations and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; 7+ years HVAC/Controls experience; technical training preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to use handheld devices for field reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Experience with DDC controls systems; able to read mechanical drawings and submittals.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning, programming, graphics setup, communications link, end-to-end testing, troubleshooting and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Document point-to-point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close out requirements.
  • Complete paperwork for each job including time, progress and duration; maintain files.
  • Serve as direct customer contact; service products and equipment on site to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of Trane products related to installation, operation, maintenance and repair of direct digital control systems.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain asset security; inspect and maintain vehicles and tools.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for commissioning, programming, setting up graphics, communications link, end to end testing, troubleshooting and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for documenting point to point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close out requirements.
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
  • Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer’s location.
  • Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
  • Inspects vehicles by checking vehicle condition and literature supplies.
  • Maintains vehicles by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, completed repairs and maintenance service.
  • Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
  • Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires.
  • Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight stays.
  • Responsible for planning, analyzing and timely completion of assigned projects and activities.
  • Provides training and follow-up training at customer site.
  • Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
  • Provides technical support to customers on assigned projects.
  • Communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, subcontractors, and field support staff.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns.
  • Must have the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ensures quality installation of assigned projects.
  • Willingness to learn new HVAC technologies and systems.
  • Ability to operate rental equipment (i.e. scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.)
What You Will Bring
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, or certificate of completion from an accredited technical school is required. Typically requires at least 7 years of experience in HVAC/Controls. Technical School or formal training is preferred.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
  • Must possess a valid driver\u2019s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • Previous experience with DDC controls system (i.e. Point-to-point verification, programing, sequencing, commissioning, graphics, ability to read Mechanical drawings and control submittals, etc.)
