Qualifications

Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:

$85,000 - $100,000

Job Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for virtually all the technical work related to automation projects and services provided to the Operations team. This role offers various responsibilities and career paths.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install and connect manufacturing equipment, considering motor size, voltage, and circuit balance for proper power distribution.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures involving mechanical and electrical components.
  • Hire and develop the facility Controls Team.
  • Lead the Controls Team in new equipment installation and upgrades.
  • Manage Electrical Contractors to maintain electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical testing, disassemble equipment, replace parts, and reassemble/test.
  • Design control panels to UL standards.
  • Proficient in VFD programming and troubleshooting.
  • Respond to machine breakdown calls as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering to modify production machinery.
  • Conduct daily inspections to identify potential equipment issues.
  • Manage parts inventory and coordinate reordering.
  • Size loads and breakers for machinery.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs from GE, Allen Bradley, and Siemens.
  • Draft basic electrical circuits and diagrams.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis for electrical failures.
  • Design network systems and safety systems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree in Automation/Electrical field required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and in teams effectively.
  • Experience with electrical testing instruments and tools.
  • Ability to read and modify electrical drawings.
  • Experience with injection molding and extrusion machinery is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to plant breakdowns.
  • Vibration Analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Motor Control Theory and P&ID design.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks electrical schematics is a plus.
