Job summary

The Hershey Company seeks a Sr. Controller, External Reporting & Corporate Accounting to lead corporate accounting, consolidation, and external reporting under U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.

You will safeguard reporting accuracy, strengthen governance, and improve close processes while delivering high-quality disclosures to investors and regulators.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience, including Big 4 public accounting and exposure to a public company or SEC registrant.
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or Finance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the corporate accounting close and consolidation process, coordinating with the corporate accounting team and intercompany eliminations with HBP for efficiency.
• Lead preparation and governance of SEC filings, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documentation with Investor Relations and Legal.
• Ensure consistent application of accounting standards, implement new standards, and support policy updates.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit and SEC responses.
• Maintain strong governance and internal controls over financial reporting and drive process improvements.
• Lead teams responsible for corporate close, consolidations, complex transactions, and SEC reporting, coordinating with CFO and other functions.

How will you fit in the big picture?

The Sr. Controller, External Reporting & Corporate Accounting leads corporate accounting, consolidation, and external financial reporting. You will help safeguard the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting under U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements while strengthening governance, improving close processes, and delivering high-quality disclosures to investors and regulators.

What will you do?

• Lead the corporate accounting close and consolidation process, including the corporate accounting team, intercompany eliminations in partnership with HBP, and improvements to close efficiency and timeliness.
• Lead preparation and governance of SEC filings, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documentation, coordinating with Investor Relations and Legal and aligning internal and external reporting.
• Ensure consistent application of accounting standards, implement new standards, support policy updates, resolve complex accounting matters, and partner with business unit and international finance teams.
• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly reviews and the annual audit, reporting and disclosure procedures, documentation, and SEC comment-letter responses.
• Maintain strong governance and internal controls over financial reporting while driving continuous improvement across reporting and close processes.
• Lead teams responsible for corporate close, consolidations, complex transactions, and SEC reporting while partnering with the CFO, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, Legal, business leaders, Corporate Development, and internal and external auditors.

Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience, including Big 4 public accounting and experience with a public company or SEC registrant. Both are required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or Finance.

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Experience with ERP accounting and finance systems such as SAP/Group Reporting, plus experience with BlackLine and Workiva.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $135,280 to $169,100 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training.
