Job summary

Premier America Credit Union in the Los Angeles area seeks a Sr Consumer Loan Specialist to manage end-to-end processing of auto, personal, and secured loans. You will review documents, coordinate with dealerships and partners, and ensure timely funding while maintaining accuracy across loan reports.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple internal teams. On-site position with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Process and fund consumer loans, including auto, personal, and secured loans.
• Review and validate required loan documents and underwriter stipulations.
• Coordinate with dealerships and partners to obtain missing information.
• Perform file maintenance, discrepancy resolution and loan report validation.
• Manage daily ACH postings and loan corrections.
• Reconcile GLs and track reporting data for accuracy.
• Conduct quality control reviews for funded indirect loans.
• Process GAP refund requests and maintain related logs.
• Serve as backup processor for all Consumer Lending functions.
• Support Retail, Contact Center and Loan Contact Center with inquiries.
• Assist onboarding and training of new hires and frontline staff.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Risk and Member Operations for issue resolution.
• Participate in special projects and department workflow management.
• Oversee indirect/direct loan tracking and member requests.
• Perform weekly and monthly quality control tasks.
• Update department procedures across units.

Job description

Job Title: Sr Consumer Loan Specialist

Overview

Responsible for the end-to-end processing of various Consumer Loan products, including direct and indirect vehicle loans, personal loans, credit cards, lines of credit, and share/certificate secured loans.

What You Will Do

• Ensure timely and accurate funding by reviewing loan documents and underwriter stipulations in alignment with department SLAs.
• Process and fund consumer loans, including direct/indirect auto, personal, and secured loans.
• Review and validate required documentation and stipulations provided by underwriters.
• Coordinate with stakeholders such as dealerships and third-party partners (e.g., iLending) to obtain missing or additional information.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties such as file maintenance, discrepancy resolution, and loan report validation.
• Manage daily ACH postings and make necessary loan corrections based on report reviews.
• Reconcile and maintain department General Ledgers (GLs), track reporting data to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct quality control reviews for funded indirect loans and other completed reports.
• Monitor and process GAP refund check requests and maintain related tracking logs.
• Act as a backup processor for all Consumer Lending functions as needed.
• Provide support to Retail, Contact Center, and Loan Contact Center teams with loan inquiries and research.
• Assist in onboarding and training new hires and support branch/frontline team members.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Accounting, Risk, Member Operations, and Consumer Lending for issue resolution and process improvements.
• Participate in and complete assigned special projects.
• Works directly with management of Consumer Lending to support with managing the department workflow on a daily cadence and supports with absorbing tasks and responsibilities during staff shortages.
• Oversees the tracking and assignment of Indirect loans and Direct member requests.
• Performs weekly, and monthly quality control tasks for all reports and department tasks.
• Oversees the updating of department procedures on the café on a needs basis and works with all areas of the Consumer Lending department, TSC, branches, Member Operations, Branches, Accounting and Risk.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
• A high school degree or equivalent
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills including ability to research questions, analyze data, compile results, recommend solutions and effectively communicate information to a variety of levels.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
• Basic Accounting, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
• Knowledge of Consumer loan products (Direct & Indirect), DMV documents and Loan Origination.

Pay Grade Info

The base pay range for this position is: $27-$34/hourly
