Maintain and repair all city roads, streets, shoulders, alleys and multi–use paths by repairing and installing curb and gutter, brick streets, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and granite curbs; maintaining and operating equipment; raking asphalt; finishing concrete; operating rollers; assisting other crews or departments; setting up traffic control devices; disposing of materials and assisting in vehicle or equipment repair.
Operate and maintain heavy equipment related to the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, roads, alleys and sidewalks. Construct and maintain streets by cleaning, applying sealing materials, rebuilding shoulders, applying surfaces, reconditioning materials, replacing deteriorated curbs and gutters, replacing surface and base materials, and repairing damaged surfaces.
Maintain equipment and vehicles by cleaning, changing oil and filters, and requesting parts or equipment needing to be sent off for repair.
Required QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time professional experience in maintenance or construction work.
Other Requirements: Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions; possession of Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 180 days of employment. (City of Wilmington compensates for training to attain and retain certifications)
Preferred QualificationsPhysical Demands: Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
Working Conditions: This position generally requires working outdoors.
