Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Construction Manager for the Worldwide Grocery Real Estate & Store Development - New Store Construction team. You will manage the full construction lifecycle for new Whole Foods Market stores and Amazon physical retail spaces within your region.

You will travel up to 60% regionally and work on-site with construction trades, coordinating with Design, Real Estate, Operations, and Commissioning to deliver stores that meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day project execution in partnership with internal teams, ensuring alignment on schedule milestones and budget targets.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between construction project teams and internal partner organizations, fostering collaboration and clear communication across stakeholders.
  • Align delivery from external project managers, architects, design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to meet project requirements.
  • Manage customer and external partner relationships, meeting with stakeholders to define project parameters and ensure accountability for quality and timely delivery.
  • Support negotiations of agreements with customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to eliminate risks to innovation or customer satisfaction and find a path forward in difficult situations.
  • Make trade-off decisions and defend those decisions to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project execution metrics, report challenges to the CPM, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Suggest improvements to scoping, building, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Review project requests against business need to provide approvals or alternate solutions.
  • Execute day-to-day operations autonomously and deliver the right outcomes with limited guidance.

Join the Worldwide Grocery Real Estate & Store Development (WWGRD)- New Store Construction team as a Construction Manager. Amazon is seeking a representative in the delivery of Whole Foods Market stores and Amazon physical retail spaces.

In this role, you will manage the full construction lifecycle from design review and contractor procurement through construction execution and operational handover for new store builds across your assigned region.

You will be the primary point of interface between Amazon and its external partners, including developers, general contractors, design consultants, and regulatory authorities, while serving as the key integrator between construction and internal teams responsible for store operations, merchandising, equipment, and brand standards.

You will be on site regularly, working directly with the construction trades and driving cost, schedule, and quality outcomes. You will manage construction vendors and contractors, oversee commercial processes including bidding and contract execution, and coordinate closely with partner teams such as Design, Real Estate, Operations, and Commissioning to deliver stores that directly support our customers.

This role requires strong technical construction expertise, sharp commercial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently. You will bring a disciplined approach to safety, budget management, schedule oversight, contract administration, and stakeholder communication, all in service of delivering world‑class retail spaces for Amazon's customers.

This role requires regional travel (up to 60%) and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing large-scale projects from end to end
  • Experience in construction, or experience in construction or project management
  • Experience with high-level negotiation and successful internal and external relationship management
  • Experience in construction or project management
  • Experience in direct management, mentorship, leadership, and coaching of construction management or commissioning professionals
  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
