Job summary

About the Role

As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will lead construction projects on‑site, acting as Amazon’s owner’s representative. You will drive cost, schedule, and quality, manage vendors and contractors, and ensure the highest standards for safety and security while delivering scalable capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout/punch‑list phases.
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
  • Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
  • Manage construction projects to increase data‑center resiliency.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
  • Manage construction documents including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Ensure construction project quality control and record key construction metrics.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis for equipment failures.
  • Serve as a leader within the group and collaborate with internal and external teams supporting the data center.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience defining data center system‑level architecture, documenting performance and equipment requirements, creating conceptual designs, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving MEP plants.
  • Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure.
  • 12+ years of general contractor and vendor management, including RFP, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking.
  • 12+ years of experience constructing and managing complex MEP systems, large‑scale power distribution/generation gear, and cooling systems in mission‑critical environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science OR 16+ years relevant overall experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Expectations include 50‑75% travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
Benefits

Base salary range: $139,300.00 – $208,000.00 USD annually. Your total compensation will include sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and company‑wide benefits such as health insurance, dental, vision, prescription, life & AD&D, optional supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, adoption and surrogacy reimbursement, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
