Job summary

Blue Origin invites engineers to work onsite across US sites (Bay Area, San Diego, Austin, Kent) on the TeraWave program. You will develop models and algorithms for the Custom Silicon, focusing on packet processing, MAC/PHY, and DSP to achieve high performance with low power consumption.

Collaboration with ASIC, RFIC, and SW teams is essential for pre- and post-silicon validation. Strong background in signal processing, modem design, and DSP is required, with experience in MATLAB/SystemC/C++.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of signal processing or modem design experience.
• B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Experience with networking, modem MAC/PHY, DSP, RF or mixed-signal designs.
• Experience with MATLAB, SystemC, C/C++ or similar System-level tools.
• Knowledge of DSP and communications systems including OFDM, QAM, PCM/FM, PAM.

Responsibilities

• Develop models and algorithms for the TeraWave Custom Silicon including packet processing, MAC, PHY, and DSP.
• Aim for lowest power consumption and highest performance.
• Target algorithms for FPGA and ASIC implementation.

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

This role will be onsite in either the Bay Area-CA, San Diego-CA, Austin-TX, or Kent-WA. It is approved for a temporary remote work exception while specific sites are being developed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop models and algorithm for the TeraWave Custom Silicon, This includes packet processing, MAC, PHY, Radio DSP
• Drive for lowest power consumption and highest performance
• Target your algorithms for FPGA and ASIC implementation,
• Support the ASIC implementation thru Pre-silicon verification
• Design advanced Digital end to end communication systems
• Develop and model Channel impairments models
• Work collaboratively with ASIC , RFIC and SW implementation teams
• Work with the application team to Bring up prototype pre-silicon and support all post-silicon to validate your architecture performance

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in Signal processing or Modem design and development
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Experience with networking , modem MAC and PHY , DSP , RF and/or Mixed Signal designs
• Experience with MATLAB, SystemC, C/C++ or other System level tools
• Knowledge of DSP and communications systems including spread spectrum, forward error correction, and modulation types (OFDM, QPSK, QAM, PCM/FM, PAM)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience in full ASIC lifecycle (architecture, design, simulation, verification, validation, integration & test)
• Experience with Software-Defined Radio Architectures, ADC/DAC, and/or DSPs
• Familiarity with multirate Digital signal processing techniques
• Experience mentoring junior engineers

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $230,398.00 - $322,556.85 WA applicants is $230,398.00 - $322,556.85
