A dynamic automotive firm in Akron, Ohio is looking for a Senior Compound Engineer to lead the development of innovative tire compounds. In this role, you will apply your expertise in compound design and engineering to enhance existing products and develop new solutions. The ideal candidate has 5-15 years of experience in OEM compound development and a strong understanding of tire design. This position offers a competitive salary of $95,000 - $150,000 along with excellent health benefits and a collaborative work environment.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compound Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Compound Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and refining complex compounds, ensuring their quality and performance meet the highest standards.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $150,000

Location: Onsite role with relocation assistance available.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new tire compounds to meet the optimal performance required for customer approvals.
• Maintain and enhance performance of existing tire compounds to meet customer expectations.
• Design laboratory studies to evaluate new compound technologies.
• Seek out new materials technologies.
• Perform forensic analysis on both new and tested products.
• Work closely with development engineers on all OEM and Replacement projects concerning compound selections and performance expectations.
• Travel to plants to assist in new compound development and processing studies as required.
• Communicate directly with other company R&D centers as required.

Qualifications

Education:

• BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry

Required:

• 5-15 years’ experience in OEM compound development.
• Knowledge of tire design, and/or standards, as well as OE product development.
• Exposure to OE plant development with a broad base of knowledge in compounding science.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of regulatory issues concerning materials and tires (highly preferred).
• Proficiency in the statistical design of experiments.
