SR. COMM AND MEDIA RELATIONS MANAGER

Full Time ORLANDO, FL, Orlando, FL, US

COMPANY OVERVIEW

ThreatLocker® is a global cybersecurity leader that stops cyberattacks before they happen. The company’s Zero Trust Platform prevents breaches from both known and unknown threats by allowing only explicitly trusted software and activity across endpoints, networks, and cloud systems. Built to deploy quickly and scale across complex environments, the platform reduces operational overhead while keeping business running uninterrupted. Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, with offices in Dublin, Dubai, and Brisbane, ThreatLocker protects over 70,000 organizations worldwide.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Communications and Media Relations Manager with deep media experience, strong news judgment, and a proven track record of securing meaningful national coverage.

This position will play a senior role in ThreatLocker communications function, owning major elements of the company’s earned media strategy and serving as a trusted communications advisor to executive leadership. The ideal candidate will be highly proactive, intellectually curious, deeply engaged with the news cycle, and comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment.

The role will be responsible for developing and executing media relations strategies across national business and news outlets, broadcast media, key trade publications, and regional media. The successful candidate will identify opportunities to insert ThreatLocker expertise into breaking and developing news, help shape executive and company narratives, and provide strategic counsel during high-pressure communications situations.

The position will also help lead relationships with domestic and international public relations agencies and work closely with communications professionals across multiple markets to ensure consistent messaging and execution.

Cybersecurity experience is preferred but is not required on day one. A strong desire and demonstrated ability to develop genuine subject-matter expertise is essential. Completion of the CompTIA Security+ certification will be required within 12 months of starting the position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute high-impact earned media strategies that support company priorities, executive positioning, and brand reputation.
  • Leverage existing media relationships and build new ones to secure meaningful coverage and interviews with major national business, news, technology, broadcast, trade, and regional outlets.
  • Proactively pitch company news, thought leadership, executive perspectives, and commentary on relevant industry developments.
  • Identify breaking and developing news opportunities where ThreatLocker expertise can contribute meaningfully to the conversation and move quickly to develop messaging and media outreach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, producers, bookers, and other influential media contacts across print, digital, television, radio, and podcasts.
  • Develop and support national broadcast opportunities, including television and radio interviews, and prepare executives and subject-matter experts for those engagements.
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to executives and internal subject-matter experts, providing guidance on messaging, media strategy, positioning, and reputational considerations.
  • Coach and prepare executives and subject-matter experts for interviews, including message development, anticipated questions, and interview strategy.
  • Collaborate with executives, product leaders, threat researchers, legal, and marketing teams to identify newsworthy storylines and translate technical subject matter into compelling media narratives.
  • Manage and provide strategic direction to a portfolio of domestic and international public relations agencies, ensuring alignment with company priorities, messaging, and performance expectations.
  • Draft and execute press releases, media statements, pitches, briefing materials, and other communications content.
  • Contribute to executive communications strategy, including op-eds, speeches, interviews, and thought leadership campaigns.
  • Lead communications strategy and response during sensitive, fast-moving, or high-pressure media situations.
  • Monitor media trends, emerging narratives, competitor activity, and industry developments, providing relevant insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Oversee industry and company media monitoring efforts and help evaluate the effectiveness of earned media programs.
  • Help shape public-facing narratives that elevate and protect the company’s reputation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in media relations, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, or a related field. Former journalists or news producers should also have meaningful professional experience in public relations or media relations.
  • Demonstrated success securing meaningful earned coverage with major national business, broadcast, technology, or news outlets.
  • Exceptional news judgment and the ability to quickly recognize when company expertise can meaningfully contribute to a developing story.
  • Strong existing relationships with relevant national media, combined with a demonstrated ability to build new relationships with reporters, editors, producers, and other influential media contacts.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute media strategies rather than solely support or implement existing communications plans.
  • Experience advising and preparing senior executives for media engagements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical subject matter into clear and compelling narratives.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing opportunities, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving news environment.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to develop expertise in complex subject areas.
  • Calm, confident presence in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cybersecurity, technology, SaaS, or B2B enterprise environments.
  • Experience securing and supporting national television and broadcast interviews.
  • Background in both corporate communications and fast-paced media or agency environments.
  • Experience managing external public relations agencies, including setting strategy, evaluating performance, and holding partners accountable.
  • Experience supporting communications programs across multiple geographic markets or internationally.
  • Existing relationships with national business, technology, cybersecurity, or broadcast media.
Application Materials

Candidates are also encouraged to provide examples demonstrating their personal role in successful media relations efforts, including major earned media placements, breaking-news or rapid-response opportunities, or executive positioning campaigns.
