Job summary

Request Technology, LLC is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to build and operate a globally distributed cloud infrastructure. You will design and implement Kubernetes-based platforms (EKS) with GitOps workflows (Argo CD) and lead cloud initiatives using Terraform and CI/CD automation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS and GCP preferred).
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) and GitOps (Argo CD).
• Proficiency with Terraform, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and Python scripting for infra automation.
• Strong experience supporting containerized apps and Linux-based systems.
• Solid networking, IAM, observability, and cloud services knowledge (VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda).
• Familiarity with managing secrets (HashiCorp Vault) and on-call capable fault-tolerant systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a globally distributed cloud infra platform using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform Engineering and BU teams to engineer infra for cloud apps.
• Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes platforms/workloads (EKS, Cluster API) with GitOps (Argo CD).
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Perform system and database maintenance, deployments, backups, patching, and upgrades.
• Maintain cloud environments with incident response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Participate in on-call rotations and support operational readiness.
• Lead cloud infra projects end-to-end from design to delivery.
• Own complex workstreams and ensure smooth hand-offs to operations.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical direction to engineers.
• Define patterns and standards for platform consistency and maintainability.
• Collaborate across development, security, and operations to ensure security/compliance.
• Create clear documentation for infra designs, SOPs, and runbooks for target audiences.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain a globally distributed cloud infrastructure platform using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform Engineering and business unit application teams to engineer infrastructure solutions for their cloud-based applications
• Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based platforms and workloads (EKS, Cluster API), including GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD)
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
• Perform system and database maintenance, including application deployment, backup and restoration, patching, and upgrades
• Maintain cloud environments through incident response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• Participate in on-call rotations and support operational readiness
• Lead implementation of cloud infrastructure projects from design through delivery
• Own complex workstreams end-to-end — scope, sequencing, and hand-off to operations
• Lead design discussions and reviews, and provide technical direction and feedback to other engineers
• Define and evolve the patterns and standards that keep the platform consistent and maintainable
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure systems are secure and compliant
• Create and maintain clear, accurate documentation — infrastructure designs, standard operating procedures, and support runbooks — tailored to the target audience (e.g., engineers, support staff)

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS and GCP preferred) in a professional setting.
• Deep, hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) and GitOps (Argo CD).
• Deep, hands-on experience using Terraform, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and scripting languages (Python) to deploy, maintain, and support cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience supporting containerized applications and Linux-based systems.
• Strong understanding of networking, IAM, cloud observability, and common cloud services such as AWS VPC, EC2, S3, SNS, SQS, and Lambda.
• Familiarity with managing secrets and sensitive configuration using tools such as HashiCorp Vault.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating fault-tolerant systems with on-call responsibilities.
