Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Senior Clinical Data Analyst to support quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement through data collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical and operational data across the system.

You will collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, and IT teams, develop dashboards and scorecards, perform statistical analyses, and help prepare regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, statistics, data analytics, computer science or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of healthcare data analysis or quality improvement experience.
• CPHQ, clinical data management, health informatics or related certification preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics, improvement methodologies and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with EHRs and healthcare databases.

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, maintain, and analyze data from EHRs, registries, databases and regulatory systems.

Job Summary

The Senior Clinical Data Analyst supports the organization's quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives through the collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical and operational data. Working collaboratively with clinical leaders, physicians, staff, and Information Technology teams, this position ensures the accuracy, integrity, security, and effective utilization of healthcare data to support evidence-based decision making, regulatory reporting, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Data Management and Analysis

• Collect, validate, maintain, and analyze clinical and operational data from multiple sources, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), registries, databases, surveys, and regulatory reporting systems.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity through routine audits, validation processes, and quality control activities.
• Develop and maintain databases, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting mechanisms to support quality improvement, patient safety, accreditation, and organizational performance initiatives.
• Perform statistical analyses and trend evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce variation, and support organizational goals.
• Generate reports, visualizations, and presentations that clearly communicate findings and actionable recommendations to leadership and frontline staff.
• Monitor and report key quality, safety, patient experience, and regulatory performance indicators.

Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Support

• Support hospital-wide performance improvement and patient safety initiatives through data collection, analysis, measurement, and outcome evaluation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational excellence.
• Assist departments in establishing performance measures, monitoring progress, and evaluating the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
• Participate in root cause analyses, performance improvement projects, and patient safety investigations as assigned.
• Support organizational readiness for accreditation, regulatory surveys, and external reporting requirements.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities

• Prepare, validate, and submit data required for regulatory agencies, accreditation organizations, and quality reporting programs.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and healthcare reporting requirements, including CMS, The Joint Commission, NHSN, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy, confidentiality, and security standards governing protected health information.

Collaboration and Education

• Collaborate with clinical leaders, department managers, physicians, and support staff to develop effective data collection and reporting processes.
• Serve as a resource to departments regarding performance measurement, quality improvement methodologies, and data interpretation.
• Provide education and training related to data management, reporting tools, performance metrics, and quality improvement processes.
• Participate in committees, task forces, and interdisciplinary teams supporting organizational priorities.

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical analytics, and performance improvement best practices.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred; Field of study: Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related healthcare field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 Years of experience in healthcare data analysis, quality improvement, patient safety, clinical informatics, performance improvement, or a related healthcare setting.
• Certification in Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Clinical Data Management, Health Informatics, or related discipline preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics, performance improvement and patient safety methodologies, continuous improvement, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and healthcare databases required.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Statistical analysis and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and healthcare data confidentiality standards.
• Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, SAS, SPSS, R, Minitab, SQL, or similar data analysis and visualization tools preferred.
• Experience supporting hospital quality improvement, patient safety, accreditation, and regulatory compliance activities preferred.
• Experience with CMS, Joint Commission, NHSN, Leapfrog, or other healthcare quality reporting programs preferred.
• Project management and change management experience preferred.
