Siemens Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects across the United States.

In this role, you will prepare and deliver civil and structural designs while interfacing with internal engineering disciplines, external engineering resources, procurement managers, project engineers, project managers, and construction contractors.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Prepare calculations, seismic requirements, drawings, and specifications for grading, buildings, foundations, steel structures, overhead conductors, and rigid bus.
  • Develop conceptual designs for pricing and project planning purposes.
  • Perform civil and structural detailed designs and calculations.
  • Review and approve internal and external engineering packages and manufacturer technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance of internal and outsourced engineering with project requirements, customer specifications, governing standards, and constructability best practices.
  • Communicate engineering design risks and support proposal and project execution teams during customer meetings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective, and constructible substation solutions.
  • Support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal development through design and construction.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis. A Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in a U.S. state is required; Texas PE preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering required. Candidates with greater experience may be considered for a higher-level position, and candidates with somewhat less experience may be considered depending on qualifications.
  • Experience with High Voltage Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS), Air-Insulated Substations (AIS), Static Var Compensators (SVC), and Fixed Series Capacitor projects for utility and industrial customers is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge of discipline‑specific software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA, LPILE, SAG‑10, PLS-CADD/PLS-CADD Lite, or similar tools.
  • Working experience with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, AutoCAD, or MicroStation.
  • Strong understanding of civil/structural engineering principles, design practices, and constructability requirements for electrical substations.
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically to customer meetings and project sites as needed, approximately 20%.
