Job summary

Arcadis U.S. Inc. is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to provide design support on Industrial Infrastructure projects across North America, including Transit and Freight Rail, with Design-Bid-Build or Design-Build approaches.

You will mentor teams, review codes, perform analyses, and prepare reports and drawings for civil/site and railroad projects, leveraging AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and BIM360 to deliver high-quality designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10+ years civil/site design experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; team collaboration.
  • Experience with BIM360 or AutoDesk Construction Cloud, PlanGrid or Procore.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Preferred: industrial and commercial infrastructure experience; AHJ permitting.
  • LEED AP or BREEAM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Role Description:

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide design support on Industrial Infrastructure projects throughout North America including Transit and Freight Rail projects. Depending on the clients and projects you support, you will utilize a Design-Bid-Build or a Design-Build approach when developing design documentation.

Role accountabilities:
  • Mentor and lead teams of engineering staff during the production of plans and specifications.
  • Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting activities.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data necessary to develop technical design information.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software, including computer simulation models, and equipment to prepare engineering and design analysis and documents.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and technical designs for civil/site and/or railroad projects.
  • Address Request for Information (RFI) from contractors related to design documents.
Key Attributes:
  • Experience using industry-standard computer software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic modeling programs/software.
  • Familiarity with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects in their respective field.
  • Understanding of all aspects of design including alignments, layout, grading, storm water and detention including modeling, utility coordination/design including water and wastewater pipeline modeling, and erosion control and storm water pollution prevention plans related to Civil/Site and/or Railroad design.
  • Ability to complete and assemble construction and permitting drawing packages.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Natural or Acquired U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • PE License
  • 10 years of civil/site design experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and prepare/develop technical documents.
  • Proficiency with these Project Management and Document Management Platforms:
  • BIM360 or AutoDesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWise
  • Proficiency in these Design & Engineering Software Applications:
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency with these Microsoft OfficeSuite Software Applications:
  • MS Teams, MS SharePoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Experience in industrial and commercial infrastructure design and construction.
  • Previous Experience in Permitting and AHJ Plans Examination.
  • Proficiency with these Project Management and Document Management Platforms:
  • PlanGrid, Procore
  • Proficiency or Experience in Design & Engineering Software Applications:
  • UNIFI, SpecLINK, e-SPEC
  • Proficiency or Experience with these Microsoft Office Suite Software Applications:
  • MS Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in these Design & Engineering Software Applications:
  • MicroStation, OpenRoads, Bluebeam, REVIT
  • Knowledge of AREMA Manual and various agency standards
  • Previous experiences with Class I Rail projects and/or large industrial projects
  • Ability/Experience in design detailing
  • LEED AP or BREEAM Certified.

The salary range for this position is $101,376 - $145,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
