Job summary

The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI seeks an experienced Cath Lab Specialist to support invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures under the Cath Lab Manager. You will assist with arterial/venous access, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-procedure patient care across all ages, ensuring safety and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within three months of hire.
• Certification as RCIS/RCES/RDCS/RT required.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists and electrophysiologists during cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular, and electrophysiology procedures.
• Support invasive procedures by managing arterial and venous access, obtaining blood samples, flushing lines, and assisting physicians.
• Scrub and provide procedural support, including guidewire handling, contrast administration, and first-assist in electrophysiology as required.
• Prepare catheterization suites ensuring equipment, supplies, sterile instruments, and monitoring systems are ready.
• Operate angiographic, hemodynamic, and non-radiographic equipment used in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic waveforms, rhythms, and arterial pressures; communicate significant findings.
• Provide post-procedure patient care including sheath removal and vital sign monitoring.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced cardiovascular technologies such as IVUS, FFR, devices, and temporary pacemakers.
• Manage digital imaging systems: acquisition, processing, analysis, archiving, and reproduction of diagnostic studies.
• Maintain accurate patient records, procedural documentation, inventory tracking, and charge entry in EPIC/LifeChart.
• Support quality assurance, infection prevention, safety initiatives, and compliance with policies.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs for lab safety.

Under the direction of the Cath Lab Manager, provides specialized clinical and technical support for invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures while ensuring safe, high-quality patient care across all age groups. Demonstrates expertise in cardiac catheterization laboratory operations, hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, and patient care management. Key Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists and electrophysiologists during cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular, and electrophysiology procedures.
• Support invasive procedures by managing arterial and venous access, obtaining blood samples, flushing and removing lines, and assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cases.
• Scrub and provide procedural support, including guidewire handling, contrast administration, and first-assist responsibilities during electrophysiology procedures as required.
• Prepare catheterization suites by ensuring all equipment, supplies, sterile instruments, and monitoring systems are operational and procedure-ready.
• Operate angiographic, hemodynamic, and non-radiographic equipment used in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic waveforms, cardiac rhythms, heart pressures, and arterial blood pressures, promptly communicating significant findings to physicians and clinical staff.
• Provide post-procedure patient care, including sheath removal, vital sign monitoring, and assessment of peripheral circulation.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced cardiovascular technologies such as IVUS, FFR, atherectomy/thrombectomy systems, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, laser consoles, temporary pacemakers, and other mechanical circulatory support equipment.
• Manage digital imaging systems, including image acquisition, processing, analysis, archiving, and reproduction of diagnostic studies.
• Maintain accurate patient records, procedural documentation, inventory tracking, and charge entry within EPIC/LifeChart systems.
• Support quality assurance, infection prevention, safety initiatives, and compliance with departmental and hospital policies.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal laboratory functionality and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Exercise Physiology, Radiologic Technology, or a related healthcare field required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within three months of hire or transfer.
• Ability to recognize and respond to common cardiac arrhythmias.
• Certification as one of the following required: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT)
• Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive patient care across diverse populations.

Experience

• Minimum of three years of experience in Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Radiology, or Exercise Physiology required.

Pay Range

$35.90-$59.23
