Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is seeking a Sr Calibration Technician in Round Lake, IL to maintain, test, calibrate and repair laboratory and manufacturing equipment. The role requires data-driven analysis, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration in GMP environments.

The candidate will handle calibration across multiple manufacturing cells, manage instrument certifications, and work with non-Cephalosporin and Cephalosporin facilities as needed, with strong computer literacy.

Your Role

A Sr Calibration Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instruments for laboratory and manufacturing equipment. Prepares technical reports, performs trending on equipment and processes, and determines acceptability of product and processes based on data analysis and specifications. Sr Calibration Technician must work on projects to support the calibration team in all three manufacturing cells.

The candidate must not be allergic to Penicillin or Cephalosporin drugs.

What you'll Be Doing

• Follows sequence of testing from calibration procedures for instruments and equipment and ensures all tasks are performed in compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Creates and maintains equipment file for each piece test / manufacturing equipment requiring calibration.
• Sets up standards and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Apply formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in evaluation plans and procedures, to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
• Ensures all tasks are performed in compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
• Coordinates instrument recertification with outside standards laboratories, which includes performing incoming inspections and documentation reviews on these instruments.
• Performs investigations for the calibrations lab nonconformances and owns related CAPAs.
• Strong computer/software literacy is preferred.
• Submit and manage purchase orders with the Coupa system.
• Will work in Non-Cephalosporin, Cephalosporin, and Penicillin facilities as needed.
• Serve as a technical resource on metrology issues. Assist lead/supervisor as needed.

What You'll Bring

• Associates Degree and three to five years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Basic understanding of metrology with an ability to deal with moderately complex processes and procedures.
• Must be able to demonstrate judgement and initiative in problem resolution.
• The candidate must be able to work flexible hours in a dynamic environment with minimal direct supervision.
• Must be able to work during Preventive Maintenance Periods (PMP) shutdown.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, (replacement of HEPA filters).
• Good communication skills and detail oriented. Good writing and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to work in a team environment and make independent decisions based on procedural and regulatory requirements.
• Complete understanding of cGMPs and GDP procedures.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $60,000 - $82,500 annually. The estimated salary is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
