Job summary

Arrowhead Products is seeking an experienced Sr. Buyer to procure materials and sub-assemblies for aerospace manufacturing. You will negotiate with suppliers, develop sources, and manage supplier performance to meet delivery, cost, and quality targets.

The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing or aerospace, with a strong eye for cost reduction and experience with ERP/MRP systems. Candidates should be proficient negotiators capable of handling complex supplier agreements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience.

• Working knowledge of commodities purchased, supply sources, contracting methods and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prices, specifications, delivery dates, award bids and place orders with suppliers.
• Prepare purchasing documentation and verify nomenclature and specifications of purchasing requisitions.
• Develop expertise on procurement of commodities related products and components that support Aerospace requirements.
• Implement continuous replenishment strategies with assigned suppliers.
• Execute supplier rationalization plans and support transition to existing and/or new suppliers.
• Support negotiation and execution of commercial agreements to reach lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations.
• Update and maintain purchase orders in MRP system for changes in design and delivery requirements.
• Balance demand with supplier capabilities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
• Analyze data and prepare supplier performance reports and cost analyses.
• Work with vendors for improved delivery, quality, lead time, and price performance.

Job Summary

Sr. Buyer is responsible for procuring, at minimum total costs, the necessary materials, components and/or sub-assemblies to manufacture saleable products. Negotiate for and procure a variety of assigned commodities including those which are non-standard or of a technical nature. Develop suppliers to meet our delivery, cost and quality requirements while maintaining assigned inventory levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate prices, specifications, delivery dates, award bids and place orders with suppliers.
• Prepare purchasing documentation and verify nomenclature and specifications of purchasing requisitions.
• Develop expertise on procurement of commodities related products and components that support Aerospace requirements.
• Implement continuous replenishment strategies with assigned suppliers.
• Execute supplier rationalization plans and support transition to existing and/or new suppliers.
• Support negotiation and execution of commercial agreement to reach lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations as appropriate for assigned commodities (e.g., long-term agreements, make/buy, market tests, etc.).
• Support, and when required lead, cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.
• Update and maintain purchase orders in Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system for changes in design and delivery requirements.
• Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities / capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
• Analyze data, including enterprise requirements, planning information, and prepare reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.
• Evaluate supplier performance requirements including quality, cost and timing expectations.
• Work with vendors for improved delivery, quality, lead time, and price performance. Evaluate these metrics with the critical suppliers regularly.
• Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
• Improve internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Comply with Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures and Quality System requirements.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business or Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years' experience in a Manufacturing or Aerospace facility.

• Should have a working knowledge of FAR/DFAR U.S. Government procurement procedures.
• Proficient user of computers and computer software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work and/or internship experience in Supply Chain Management.
• CPSM or CPM certification, preferred.
• Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Familiarity/experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques (e.g., RCCA, Six Sigma methodology).
• Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO-9001.
• Use of and deployment of electronic data interchange procurement and continuous replenishment methods.
• Excellent planning, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
• Results driven with excellent project and time management skills.
• APICS or ISM certification preferred.
