About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Business Intelligence Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs, governed data engineering, and technical dashboard execution. You will support the end-to-end BI lifecycle--from stakeholder requirements intake and human-centered design to building, validating, and maintaining enterprise Power BI reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- BI Intake & Human-Centered Design: Partner with stakeholders to define objectives, scope, and key metrics. Apply human-centered design practices (interviews, task analysis, wireframing, rapid prototyping) to ensure reporting solutions are usable and actionable.
- Dashboard & Model Development: Design and deploy enterprise Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and visualizations using DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
- Enterprise Data Integration: Work alongside Data Owners, Stewards, and Engineers to validate data readiness across Google BigQuery, Looker, and data warehouse sources while maintaining strict governance standards.
- AI-Assisted Workflow Integration: Responsibly utilize modern AI development platforms (Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, etc.) for SQL/DAX generation, documentation, unit testing, and workflow automation under strict human review.
- Analytics & Scripting: Write clean SQL queries, Python, or R scripts for advanced data manipulation, validation, and analytics logic.
- Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: Track dashboard usage telemetry, monitor refresh performance, optimize complex models, and ensure ongoing data accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of dedicated professional experience in BI, analytics, data modeling, or dashboard engineering.
- Core BI Stack: Advanced proficiency with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, report publishing).
- Cloud & SQL Experience: Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, Looker, and complex SQL data querying/validation.
- Scripting Skills: Demonstrated proficiency using Python and/or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Methodologies: Proven experience using human-centered design principles (needfinding, prototyping, user testing) and modern AI-assisted coding tools.
- Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on W2 without present or future sponsorship (US Citizen or Green Card holder).
- Onsite Expectation: Ability to work onsite 3 days per week at our facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience in the Financial Services or Banking industry.
- Familiarity with software engineering practices (version control, CI/CD, testing frameworks) and containerization tools like Docker.
- Deep understanding of enterprise data governance concepts (lineage, data quality, metadata management, access controls).
