Belcan is seeking a Sr Braider Operator in Mansfield, TX to operate TMW-3dk and TMW-4dk braiders and monitor product quality. The role includes setting up machines per specifications and training entry-level braider operators, while ensuring tooling, materials and logs are correctly handled.

The position requires performing pull tests on aerospace hose, maintaining a safe, clean work area and adhering to 5S and safety guidelines. Overtime and night shift are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience operating TMW braiders and training entry-level braiders.
• Ability to pull tooling and materials per specs (springs, braid rings, etc.).
• Strong attention to quality and SPC documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate TMW-3dk and TMW-4dk braiders and monitor product quality.
• Set up machines per specs and adjust deck/puller gear.
• Inspect tooling and track material in WW3 system and Braider Logs.

Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Operate TMW-3dk and TMW-4dk braiders and monitor for proper product quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Know how to operate NEB, OMA, TMW 24/36 braiders and train entry level braider operators as needed
• Pull tooling and materials according to manufacturing specifications for applicable machine(s), such as springs, braid rings, tube guides, wound bobbin, core tube, etc.
• Inspect tooling before using and track material used in WW3 system and Braider Logs
• Set up applicable machine(s) according to manufacturing specifications (braid ring height, install tube guide, change deck/puller gear, unload/load carriers, unload/load bobbins, etc.)
• Identify correct mandrel size for the core tube to help guide through machine, rotate mandrel till job finishes and strip when done, resize and rework as needed
• Mark defects and new preforms with the correct tape color
• Measure and record OD and pitch on Hose Process Chart (SPC) for all deck levels
• Perform inspection of carriers and know how to rebuild
• Perform pull test on all aerospace hose
• Replace oil barrels when needed
• Set completed hose to proper staging area
• Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5s practices
• Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines
• Report production issues to Direct Lead
• Perform work of an equal or lower classification

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
• Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
• Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
• Other duties may be assigned at a later time.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

• Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
• Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

• High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
• Physical hazards from operating machines
• Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)
• Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
• Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
• Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
