Job summary

Brookside Flavors and Ingredients seeks a seasoned professional to lead development of innovative beverage applications for customer initiatives and revenue growth. You will own technical projects, support customers on regulatory labeling, and guide scale-up and commercialization efforts.

The role requires 8+ years in application development with a strong background in beverage formulation, pilot plant work, and labeling.

Qualifications

  • Degree in food science, physical sciences, or related field required.
  • 8 years application development experience; 5 years minimum.
  • Proficient in beverage categories: Carbonated, Alcoholic, Functional, and UHT beverages.
  • Experience in finished product labeling and scaling formulas to production.

Responsibilities

  • Create beverages/applications for product demonstrations, customer visits, and trade shows.
  • Consult with customers on regulatory and labeling questions.
  • Lead pilot activities with customers and scale formulas to production.
  • Own and execute lab projects and support the applications team in tastings and idea sharing.
  • Stay current with industry advancements by attending seminars and conferences.
  • Organize and maintain new raw material samples from vendors and suppliers.
  • Lead sensory evaluations and test products to secure customer approval.
  • Set up daily product tastings including vegan/vegetarian, meat, and seafood flavors.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading the development of innovative beverage applications to support strategic customer initiatives and revenue growth. The role includes ownership of technical projects, customer-facing innovation support, and leadership in scale-up and commercialization efforts.

Job Functions
  • Create beverages/applications for product demonstrations, customer visits and trade shows.
  • Consult with customers concerning regulatory and label questions.
  • Work on pilot activities with customers.
  • Effectively and efficiently execute lab projects that are assigned.
  • Support product development and applications team in tastings, information sharing of ideas & concepts, training and sample creation as needed.
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements by attending seminars, webinars and conferences.
  • Support customers with finding alternative sourcing options for raw materials.
  • Organize and maintain new raw material samples from vendors and suppliers.
  • Lead sensory evaluations and test for developed products to ensure customer approval.
  • Set up and participate in daily product tasting. These products range from vegan/vegetarian products to meat and seafood flavor.
  • Compound and blend flavor products as needed for day-to-day functions.
  • Maintain lab stock of most used raw materials and ingredients and keep a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Degree in food science, physical sciences, or related field required.
  • Desired 8 years application development experience; 5 years minimum needed.
  • Proficient in the following applications: Carbonated Beverages, Alcoholic Beverages, Functional Beverages and UHT Beverages.
  • Proficient in finished product labeling.
  • Proficient in conducting pilot plant work and scaling formulas to production.
  • Proficiency with office suites and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and maintain a neat work environment.
  • Must possess strong and effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, in a fast-paced setting.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is mainly subjected to an indoor office environment.
