Job summary

Scientific Systems is seeking an Autonomy Research Engineer 2 to conduct collaborative research and software engineering in support of our R&D objectives. The role includes data analyses, modeling, and contributing to publications.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule and requires the ability to obtain and maintain an active US DOD security clearance. A strong background in MATLAB/C++/Python and AI/ML libraries is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, CS, Applied Mathematics or similar + 3+ years in related field, or Master’s + 1+ year.
Advanced experience in research software development with MATLAB/C++/Python.
Experience with AI/ML/Autonomy software libraries.
Experience with simulation, development and deployment environments.

Responsibilities

Conduct collaborative research and data analyses to support objectives.
Develop technical proposal content and assist with business development tasks.
Document results, key findings and conclusions for internal audiences.
Contribute to publications as needed.

Job description

The Autonomy Research Engineer 2 conducts collaborative research, data analyses and software engineering, under the supervision of a project or task lead, supporting a group's research and development objectives.Mission autonomy is the ability for autonomous agents or teams to conduct strategic decision-making and coordinated actions toward longer-term operational objectives through persistent world modeling, predictive simulation, and adaptive planning under uncertainty and adversarial conditions.

Essential Functions:

Conduct assigned and/or collaborative research, data analyses and/or software engineering activities as directed, that support technical and program objectives.

Support the group's business development activities by developing technical proposal content, supporting data analyses and/or software engineering, as needed, under the guidance of a proposal technical lead.

Document and communicate technical results, data analyses, key findings, and takeaway
conclusions of research and development activities to internal audiences.

Contribute to publications as needed.

This role requires the Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.

May require the ability to push/pull/lift up to 15 pounds.

Must be able to Obtain and maintain an active US DOD security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or similar educational background, or equivalent experience and 3+ years of experience in related industry experience or Masters Degree and 1+ years of experience in a related field.
