Job summary

Applied Network Solutions, Inc. seeks a Sr. Automation Engineer (Networks) to join our Chantilly, VA team.

The role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying automated network solutions using NSO and related tooling. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with network protocols, Linux environments, and scripting, and holds DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 compliance. This position is contingent upon contract award and requires TS SCI Poly.

Qualifications

• 16 years of combined education and experience required (see DoD guidance).
• IAT Level 2 compliant with DoD 8140.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
• Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining software in a Linux (RHEL) environment.
• Scripting skills (Python) are required.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent technical communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain NSO and related network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex network and service deployment issues using NSO logs and monitoring tools.
• Integrate NSO with devices, systems, and APIs via NETCONF/RESTCONF/JSON-RPC.
• Develop automation scripts in Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Perform system maintenance: upgrades, patching, security auditing, backups.
• Collaborate with network architects, software developers, and operations teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.

ANS is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer (Networks) to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

• Install, configure, and maintain Cisco Network Services Orchestrator (NSO) solutions and associated network infrastructure components, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and service deployment issues, leveraging NSO logs and monitoring tools to perform root cause analysis.
• Integrate NSO with various network devices, external systems, and APIs using protocols like NETCONF, RESTCONF, and JSON-RPC.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Java, or other relevant languages to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Perform regular system maintenance, including software upgrades (NED upgrades), patching, security auditing, and configuration backups for network devices.
• Collaborate with network architects, software developers, and operations teams to define requirements and ensure seamless integration of new solutions.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to installations, configurations, and network processes.

Requirements:

TS SCI Poly

• Candidate must have 16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 8 years, master’s and 10 years, bachelor’s and 12 years, associates and 14 years or HS diploma and 16 years. Required qualifications include the following:
• Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Expert knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.).
• Expert knowledge and experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining software in a Linux (RHEL) environment.
• Intermediate scripting skills are required (Ex. Python).
• Effective analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Solid technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Desired:

• Proven experience in network administration or engineering, with hands-on experience in configuring Cisco and/or Juniper routers and switches.
• Familiarity with YANG data modeling language.
• Experience with network automation and orchestration tools, specifically Cisco Network Services Orchestrator (NSO)

As required by local law, Applied Network Solutions, Inc. provides reasonable salary ranges of compensation for work performed in applicable states. Ranges are not a guarantee of compensation and depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to contractual requirements, work location, years of experience, skill set, and education. Overtime is not guaranteed for this position.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $100,000 - $200,000 USD.
