Job summary

Amgen is seeking a SR ASSOCIATE DIGITAL MANUFACTURING I in North Carolina to lead digital transformation across the plant. You will drive the adoption of AI and advanced analytics, build digital tools, and empower leadership with data-driven insights to improve operations.

The role requires strong programming, data modeling, and collaboration with global digital teams. A focus on lean principles and manufacturing excellence will support continuous improvement across the network.

SR ASSOCIATE DIGITAL MANUFACTURING I

In this vital role you will join a forward-thinking team driving the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies and digital transformation initiatives within the plant. In this role, you will enhance floor operations and empower business leadership through advanced data analytics, AI and automation. You will take ownership of critical processes, design innovative digital solutions that improve operational performance. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing Amgen North Carolinas digital maturity and enabling a smarter, more connected, and data-driven manufacturing future.

  • Build Digital Solutions to Support Manufacturing Operation: Identify key improvement opportunities within manufacturing operations and build new digital tools to enhance productivity.
  • Enable Data Infrastructure and Analytics: Lead the implementation of robust data structures and architecture at the site level to support advanced analytics, modeling, and big data initiatives. Act as a data scientist to build predictive models and generate actionable insights for plant performance optimization. Drive integration of AI and predictive analytics at ANC
  • Integrate and Optimize Business Systems: Demonstrate a strong understanding of interdependencies between smart technologies, enterprise systems (e.g., MES, ERP), and manufacturing processes to evaluate impacts and ensure system alignment with business goals.
  • Lead Digital Project Execution and Governance: Support project prioritization, approval, and execution across digital initiatives.
  • Deliver Insight Through Analytics and Visualization: Apply advanced analytical techniques to interpret complex data sets and assess manufacturing performance metrics using tools such as SQL, Tableau, and other visualization or data analytics platforms.
  • Champion Collaboration and Network Alignment: Partner with global digital teams and other manufacturing sites to share best practices, standardize digital solutions, and ensure continuous improvement across the network.
  • Develop and Justify Digital Investments: Prepare business cases to secure funding for new digital initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic site and organizational objectives.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school/GED + 4 years of engineering or computer science work experience OR
  • Associates + 2 years of engineering or computer science work experience OR
  • Bachelors + 6 months of engineering or computer science work experience OR
  • Master's
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with command-line programming or scripting using one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of data structures with the ability to build analytical models that generate actionable insights.
  • Strong capability in presenting data-driven insights and metrics to leadership while fostering cross-functional collaboration to advance digital initiatives.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate business needs into functional and technical system requirements.
  • Committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in fast-paced manufacturing environments, resolving issues rapidly to support production continuity.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical, operational, and leadership levels.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities to meet project timelines effectively.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
