Job summary

Royal Caribbean Group is seeking a Sr. Associate, Design to lead and coordinate architectural design for newbuilds, revitalizations, and refurbishments.

You will guide design across external firms, review proposals with senior leadership, and ensure ongoing brand alignment across all design phases. The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, strong communication, and travel up to 15% domestically or internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Interior Design or Architecture is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of design industry experience.
  • Experience in cruise ship newbuild or revitalization design is preferred.
  • Graphic design background is desirable.

POSITION SUMMARY

TheSr.Associate, Architectural Design, manages and coordinates architectural design work fornewbuild, revitalization or refurbishment projects. Plans,manages,and guides design while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms worldwide, guiding the design they provide. In collaboration with the Sr. Manager/Associatehe/she will review drawings/proposals, recommend decisions, and provide innovative solutions and ideas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuresthe design intent isapparentand credible, and that the voice of the Executive Steering Committee and Brand Think Tank is communicated clearly and consistently throughout the design process.

Applies and ensures the brand & design standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references,assistingSupervisor with oversight that project materials are delivered ona timelybasis.

Receives guidance and coordination from Sr. Associate and Manager on unusual or complexissues.

Upholds SQM practices throughout all design phases.

Regularlyattendsmeetings with sponsors (clients).

Coordinates VR/IT Initiatives. Operates CAVE with skill.

Studies,collects,shares, compare,storesstatistical information,andanalyze various ships and areas bringing forth observations.

Supports creation,building offoundational brand-design decks and immersion decks. Creates reports for management,bringsvisibility to projectprogress.

Assistswith cost complexity balancing along with other cost control needs.

Regularlyassistsand occasionally conducts practicality reviews to check that operational, risk or accessibility concerns are being considered in all aspects of design.

Assist Sr. Associate with supporting shop drawing review process, and yard/contractor coordination meetings, mockup reviews, factoryvisitsand inspections during newbuilding process and drydockperiod.

Stays current in industry trends and innovation through research and market knowledge.

Occasionally accepts assignments for design concepts, space planning, design development, drawings & details (elevations, sections, details) of designated venues.

Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILL

Minimum of 5 years design industry experience required.

Minimum of 2 years managing large scale projects.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Designrequired, Architecture preferred.

Cruise shipnewbuildor revitalization design experience preferred.

Graphic design background desirable

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Knowledge of cruise ship staterooms or crew areas preferred.

Mustpossessskills in at least 2 of the following: AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Sketchup; Microsoft Project is nice to know Must be effective communicator with project team (and sponsor whenrequired)exhibitinggood capabilities in written, oral, and graphic media.

Representsdepartment and self in a competent professional mannerIshighly motivated, efficient, and organized.

Has fundamental understanding of time management, with priorities beingestablishedby supervisor.

Works on multiple projects, and multiple tasks under various team members.

Hasstrongability tomaintainfocus.

Ability to travel internationally or domestically 15% of the time.

Exemplifiesstrong communicationskills - articulate in written, oral, graphic mediaAnticipatesjob expectations, executes upon it. Seeks guidance appropriately, independent with minimal direction.
