Job description

The Senior Assistant Branch Manager leads and ensures service and sales execution, operational excellence, and compliance within the credit union. This position leads the branch team, focusing on performance all while upholding the highest standards of service. The role works in conjunction with the Branch Development Manager (BDM) and Market President to ensure consistent execution of all retail service and sales processes and to ensure operational soundness, as well as other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support to foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Directly manage Tellers (FT, PT and Peak), Interns, Branch Ambassadors and Branch Advisors.
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of daily branch operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Implement and uphold compliance with industry regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee teller line performance.
  • Coordinate branch staffing schedules.
Performance Management
  • Set clear performance expectations for branch staff and conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.
  • Develop strategies to enhance team productivity and individual performance.
  • Lead Retail Service & Sales (RSS) strategies alongside the Branch Development Manager (BDM).
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback using RSS tools.
  • Assist BDM with managing activities of Certified Financial Consultants (CFCs).
Member Service
  • Foster a member-centric culture by promoting excellent customer service and satisfaction.
  • Address member inquiries, concerns, and issues in a timely and effective manner.
Sales & Cross-Selling
  • Collaborate with sales teams to promote and achieve branch sales goals (Mortgage Loan Officers, Commercial Relationship Managers, Achieva Wealth Advisors, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling credit union products and services.
  • Ensure consistent branch usage of RSS Tools including Coconut, Sugar, etc.
Risk Mitigation
  • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the branch against operational and compliance risks.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in regulations affecting branch operations.
  • Observe Branch Advisors, Branch Ambassadors and Tellers for sales and service activities, ensuring a consistent needs-based selling environment.
Organizational Engagement
  • Represent the credit union with professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all interactions and responsibilities.
  • Represent and uphold the Achieva Brand Frame.
  • Champion initiatives that position the credit union as a top employer through leadership, integrity and service excellence.
  • Participate in annual training or as required by BSA and the Privacy Act.
  • Perform other essential functions as needed or assigned.
  • Travel may be required on occasion.
  • Be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays based on workload, or member/ business demands.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
    • Additional education in finance, business, or related field a plus.
    • 1-3 years supervisory and leadership experience.
    • Proven experience in branch operations, preferably in the financial industry.
  • Certifications
    • Certified Financial Counselor (CFC) designation.

    • Deep knowledge and understanding of financial products and services offered by the credit union, including lending, deposit products, and financial services.
    • Ability to work closely with the Market President and branch managers fostering collaboration and achieving cohesive business development goals.
    • Proven record in setting and achieving measurable goals for market development, loan, and deposit acquisition.
    • Enthusiastic for community engagement and in representing Achieva Credit Union as a positive and impactful force in the market.
    • Capacity to adjust strategies based on performance metrics and changing market conditions.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other departments and teams to achieve organizational goals.
    • Ability to work independently, driving business development with initiative and enthusiasm.
    • In-depth understanding and adherence to risk and compliance standards in the financial industry and ability to implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
    • Strong commitment to fostering a member-centric culture with strong emphasis on delivering excellent customer service.
    • Strong critical thinking skills to address operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
    • Demonstrated decision making skills, especially in high-pressure situations, to ensure the smooth operation of the branch.
