Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Define and establish application and technical architecture for IT solutions across DSC multi-cloud and on‑premise data centers.
• Lead scalable, resilient, cost‑effective infrastructure design aligned with SLAs and vendor specs.
• Incorporate IT security and compliance architecture at the design phase of opportunities.
• Evaluate technology options, balancing cost, trend, and long‑term viability with enterprise standards.
• Oversee sizing, installation, and configuration of network, database, app, and web components to meet standards.
• Develop and agree on a support model and responsibilities (RASIC) aligned with project plans.

Job Description

Designs and directs delivery of the environments and platforms supporting IT Solutions in the North America. The role is responsible for designing and overseeing the delivery of multi-cloud environments and platforms that support IT solutions across the DSC North America region. This position plays a key role in the development and continuous enhancement of the overall architecture strategy and governance for both application and technical architecture, spanning multiple platforms, including multi-cloud environments and on-premise data centers.

Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership

• Define and establish the application and technical architecture for IT solutions that drive key projects and initiatives across diverse platforms, including DSC's multi-cloud environments and on-premise data centers.
• Lead the design of scalable, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure tailored to performance, reliability, and availability requirements, while adhering to SLAs and vendor application specifications.
• Design and plan IT Security at the beginning of any design opportunity to make each build on improving IT Security and compliance architecture.
• Evaluate and recommend technology options, balancing benefits against costs, market trends, long-term viability, and alignment with global enterprise architecture strategies, ensuring seamless integration across the DSC IT landscape.
• Assess proposed third-party vendor applications and solutions, identifying and documenting any gaps at the application level to ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and technology standards.
• Oversee the sizing, installation, and configuration of network, application, database, and web server components, ensuring conformity with documented architecture, security, and database design standards while validating tools for monitoring SLA indicators. Collaborate with internal database, application, integration, and infrastructure teams, as well as technology vendors and service providers.
• Define and achieve consensus on the support model and RASIC chart.
• Outline Application and Technical Architecture tasks and activities within project plans, including dependencies, effort estimation, and timelines.
• Provide regular updates on the status of Application and Technical Architecture tasks and activities to project management and senior IT leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with leads from other IT, Applications, and Architecture pillars to ensure effective project coordination and matrix management.
• Partner with DHL IT Services on implementation projects, platform upgrades, and other architectural initiatives, fostering continuous improvement for IT solutions delivered and supported by DSC

IT Cost Modeling

• Develop and implement cost models for various technical architecture options, providing detailed analyses of the financial implications of infrastructure choices.
• Collaborate with finance and project management teams to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for IT initiatives, evaluating the total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI) for proposed solutions.
• Present cost modeling insights to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making regarding technology investments and resource allocation.

Project Management

• Manage Application and Technical Architecture projects utilizing DePICT and IT Planning and Architecture methodologies to ensure successful delivery and alignment with strategic goals.

Architecture Catalog Management

Define and maintain a comprehensive Application and Technical Architecture catalog and repository, including:

• a.Technical design documents and architecture artifacts linked to the application portfolio.
• b.Established application and technical architecture standards and direction as part of the annual architecture roadmap process.
• c.Processes and procedures for the Application and Technical Architecture function, including engagement models for internal DSC IT requests, DSC Information Security, Procurement, ITS, and external vendors.

Additional Responsibilities

• Supports related initiatives as required, within the scope of managing the IT architecture function

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent 10+ years IT experience
• 3+ years experience in multi-cloud environments
• 11+ years experience in an IT environment
• 10+ years experience with various database and application technology
