Job summary

CBTS in Irving, TX seeks an experienced Android developer with 7+ years overall software engineering and 5+ years native Android with Kotlin/Java. Onsite role with competitive hourly pay on W2.

You'll design Android apps using MVVM, Clean Architecture, DI, modular code, REST APIs, offline storage, and responsive behavior across devices.

Required: strong Android SDK knowledge, performance profiling, unit/UI testing, Git, CI/CD, and ability to communicate complex tech to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on native Android development with Kotlin/Java.
• Strong Android SDK/framework knowledge and lifecycle, permissions, storage, threading, networking, and device compatibility.
• Experience with scalable architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture) and DI.
• Experience with REST API integration, JSON, auth flows, offline storage, caching, and limited-connectivity scenarios.
• Experience profiling for memory, performance, responsiveness, battery usage, and crash reduction.
• Experience planning device performance testing on Android hardware (benchmarking, profiling, load testing).
• Experience with unit testing, TDD, automated UI testing, and code coverage.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release management, crash reporting, and production support.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Experience with responsive development across OS versions, screen sizes, and devices.

Years of Experience

• 7+ years of overall software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on native Android application development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

• 5+ years of hands-on native Android application development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Strong understanding of Android SDK, Android framework components, application lifecycle, permissions, storage, threading, background execution, networking, and device compatibility.
• Experience designing Android applications using scalable architecture patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, dependency injection, and modular code organization.
• Experience with RESTful API integration, JSON, authentication flows, error handling, offline storage, caching, and limited-connectivity scenarios.
• Experience profiling and tuning Android applications for memory, performance, responsiveness, battery usage, and crash reduction.
• Experience planning and executing device performance testing on Android hardware, including benchmarking, profiling, load testing, battery analysis, and identifying device-specific performance constraints.
• Experience with unit testing, test-driven development practices, automated UI testing, and maintaining reliable code coverage.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release management, crash reporting, and production support practices.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems, make sound engineering decisions, and clearly communicate technical recommendations to stakeholders.
• Experience with responsive mobile development across multiple Android OS versions, screen sizes, and device types.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications (Desired but Not Required)

• Experience with AWS, MongoDB, REST endpoints, enterprise mobility, device management, Android security practices, or store technology platforms.
• Experience evaluating Android platform capabilities, device SDKs, open-source libraries, and market solutions.
• Experience with using AI Coding Tools. Ex: Windsurf, Copilot

Education & Certification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Industry Experience

• Store technology, enterprise mobility, Android device management, or retail technology environments preferred.
