Thomas James Homes seeks a senior data platform engineer to design, build, operate, and continuously improve the enterprise data platform in Microsoft Fabric, delivering lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, and analytics that turn complex business data into trusted insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, business intelligence, data analysis, or a related technology role.
  • Hands-on experience delivering production data pipelines, data models, warehouses or lakehouses, and analytics solutions in a Microsoft cloud environment.
  • Homebuilding, construction, real estate, finance, or operational analytics experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, test, deploy, and support end-to-end data solutions in Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, dataflows, and semantic models.
  • Design and maintain scalable batch and near-real-time ingestion patterns from ERP, CRM, SaaS, APIs, files, databases, and other sources.
  • Develop transformation and data preparation logic using SQL, Python, PySpark, Notebooks, Dataflows Gen2, and Fabric data pipelines.
  • Implement dimensional, star-schema, and medallion-style data models for analytics-ready data products.
  • Build and optimize Power BI semantic models, measures, KPIs, and row-level security.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements and translate findings into insights.
  • Establish automated data-quality controls, reconciliation checks, exception handling, alerting, and validation processes.
  • Monitor pipeline execution, capacity usage, query performance, refresh reliability, and platform health.
  • Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and runbooks.
  • Lead design reviews and evaluate new Fabric capabilities.
  • Mentor data analysts, engineers, and power users on data modeling, SQL, Power BI, and Fabric development

Job description

THE ROLE: Responsible for designing, building, operating, and improving the enterprise data platform in Microsoft Fabric. This role develops reliable data pipelines, lakehouse and warehouse solutions, curated data products, semantic models, and analytics that turn complex business data into trusted, actionable information. The role partners with business stakeholders, application teams, architects, and reporting teams to translate business needs into scalable data solutions, establish consistent data definitions, improve data quality, and enable self-service reporting, AI, and operational decision-making.

Day In The Life
  • Architect, build, test, deploy, and support end-to-end data solutions in Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, dataflows, and semantic models.
  • Design and maintain scalable batch and near-real-time ingestion patterns that integrate data from ERP, CRM, SaaS, APIs, files, databases, and other internal and external sources.
  • Develop transformation and data preparation logic using SQL, Python, PySpark, Notebooks, Dataflows Gen2, and Fabric data pipelines.
  • Implement dimensional, star-schema, and medallion-style data models that create governed, analytics-ready data products for enterprise use.
  • Build and optimize Power BI semantic models, measures, KPIs, row-level security, and reporting datasets that provide consistent definitions and dependable performance.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements, analyze data, investigate trends and anomalies, and translate findings into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • Establish automated data-quality controls, reconciliation checks, exception handling, alerting, and validation processes across critical data flows.
  • Monitor pipeline execution, capacity usage, query performance, refresh reliability, and platform health; troubleshoot failures and implement durable corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, technical standards, and support procedures.
  • Partner with application, integration, infrastructure, and vendor teams to define data contracts, resolve source-system issues, and deliver dependable integrations.
  • Lead technical design reviews and proof-of-concept efforts; evaluate new Microsoft Fabric capabilities and recommend adoption based on business value, risk, cost, and maintainability.
  • Mentor data analysts, engineers, and power users on data modeling, SQL, Power BI, Fabric development, data quality, and responsible self-service analytics.
  • Support strategic initiatives involving Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Power BI, Azure services, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, AI solutions, and other enterprise platforms.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, business intelligence, data analysis, or a related technology role.
  • Hands‑on experience delivering production data pipelines, data models, warehouses or lakehouses, and analytics solutions in a Microsoft cloud environment.
  • Homebuilding, construction, real estate, finance, or operational analytics experience preferred
