Job description

The Sr. Analyst, Trade and Customs will support U.S. and Canadian import and export operations, with a primary focus on U.S. imports involving aerospace, defense, regulated, and controlled products. This role will help ensure shipments move compliantly and efficiently while supporting classification, country of origin, valuation, tariff applicability, customs documentation, recordkeeping, and audit readiness.

The Sr. Analyst will work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal business partners to resolve trade compliance issues, analyze import activity, and strengthen processes and controls across ADS operations.

Our Team

The Trade and Customs team supports import and export operations across the business, partnering with Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Legal, and other functions.

This role will work closely with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government authorities to support compliant trade operations in a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment.

What You Will Do
  • Support day-to-day U.S. and Canadian import and export operations, working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transportation providers, and internal teams to resolve shipment, documentation, and clearance issues.
  • Review import transactions and broker documentation for HTS classification, ECCN/Schedule B, country of origin, valuation, Incoterms, marking, PGA requirements, ADD/CVD, Section 301/232, IEEPA, TSCA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Support customs clearance for aerospace, defense, regulated, controlled-product, and customer-specific shipments, escalating higher-risk compliance issues when appropriate.
  • Support post-entry activities including entry audits, post-summary corrections, protests, corrective actions, CF 28/29 responses, liquidation notices, and documentation for government and internal reviews.
  • Maintain trade compliance procedures, SOPs, work instructions, audit files, and recordkeeping documentation supporting import and export compliance and internal controls.
  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Legal, and other teams to resolve customs holds, product-data gaps, documentation requests, tariff recovery matters, and other trade compliance issues.
  • Support broker performance reviews, entry accuracy monitoring, duty-spend analysis, tariff exposure tracking, corrective actions, dashboards, metrics, and management reporting.
  • Use SAP GTS, SAP, Glovia, ACE, broker portals, ERP reporting, and other systems to research trade data, monitor transactions, support audit readiness, and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Support special customs programs including FTZ, bonded warehouse, drawback, reconciliation, duty recovery, temporary imports, repairs and returns, and other applicable programs.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen compliance, improve processes, reduce customs-related costs, and capture potential duty savings.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of trade compliance, customs, or import/export experience within a multinational company, manufacturing environment, or other regulated industry.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, entry reviews, post-entry activities, corrective actions, and import/export operational compliance.
  • Working knowledge of HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, country of origin, customs valuation, Incoterms, Free Trade Agreements, ADD/CVD, PGA applicability, and import documentation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, recordkeeping requirements, tariff applicability, and regulated import/export shipment processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated attention to detail and documentation.
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple functions and with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and service providers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate trade compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on issues, and appropriately escal compliance or operational risks.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20%.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. person requirements necessary to support regulated and ITAR-controlled products and programs.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) credential.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, controlled products, or other highly regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with SAP GTS, SAP, Glovia, ACE, customs broker portals, or import data analytics.
  • Experience supporting drawback, reconciliation, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), bonded warehouse operations, duty recovery, temporary imports, or other special customs programs.
  • Experience supporting import/export restrictions, license determinations, or regulated aerospace and defense shipments.
  • Experience developing trade compliance metrics, dashboards, and management reporting.
