Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Analyst within Pet Services to uncover insights that shape operations, product and services strategy across the enterprise.

You will lead end-to-end data projects, work with large datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations for senior leadership. Ideal candidates hold an advanced analytics degree, 3–5 years of experience in business analytics, and strong skills in SQL (Snowflake), Python or R, and BI tools.

Qualifications

Position Purpose

As a Senior Analyst within Pet Services at Petco, you'll discover insights that drive operational, product and services strategy for the enterprise. You will lead projects end to end and have the opportunity to work with large, diverse and rapidly growing data sets to inform business hypotheses and drive business results.

Scope

This role focuses on supporting strategic initiatives including but not limited to service offerings, customer analytics, site analytics, assortment, pricing and promotion. Broadly, this role will work with every functional area within Pet Services, eCommerce and store business teams.

Essential Job Functions

1. Retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or improving system performance
2. Optimize processes around hospital site selection including integrating external predictive models, organizing KPI’s and developing advanced scorecards
3. Own the end to end management of hospital expansion including site selection, list management and senior level readouts
4. Support the business development team with data driven insights during sourcing, diligence, and integration
5. Improve upon existing analytical methodologies by developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters
6. Develop and present new insights and recommendations to enhance existing services initiatives
7. Conduct written and verbal presentation to share insights and recommendations to audiences with varying levels of technical sophistication
8. Utilize code (Python/R/SQL…) for data analyzing and modeling algorithms
9. Design, develop, and present strategic recommendations that directly address key business questions

• Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
• Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed

Nature of Supervision

General instruction is given on program, purpose, and project objectives. Work is periodically reviewed during development and upon completion. Results of analyses are used to create strategies and decisions in marketing and advertising, therefore they have the potential to negatively affect the company’s sales and profits if data reporting is not accurate or misleading.

Education and Experience

• Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics or related business analytics discipline
• Must be self-driven and passionate about retail and must be customer centric.
• Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
• 3-5 years’ experience in business analytics
• Proficient with SQL (experience in Snowflake)
• Proficiency with multiple analytics tools required; Python or R strongly preferred
• Hands on experience with BI tools for data visualization
• Ability to explain/present advanced analytical methodologies and results to non-technical audiences
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent quantitative modeling, statistical analysis skills and problem-solving skills.
• Sophisticated user of statistical tools
• Related experience in a retail organization is a strong plus, however strategic consulting and analytics capabilities are the core requirements.

Work Environment

Most tasks are performed while seated indoors at a personal computer. Limited travel to vendors, seminars and/or conferences may be required periodically throughout the year.

Contacts

Interaction with numerous internal departments including, but not limited to Information Systems, Analytical Services, Merchandising, Content, Creative and Marketing are a nearly daily occurrence and may range from the routine exchange of information to the analyses, evaluation and resolution of complex logistical issues. Externally, the position will work with technology & creative partners, and product/service vendors usually exchanging information, providing instruction, or resolving somewhat complex problems.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $85,800.00 - $141,900.00
