Job summary

The Sr. Financial Analyst at Smurfit Westrock provides business analysis and forecasting for financial activities across the Distribution Segment, supporting operations at multiple locations and collaborating with the Finance Team.

You will conduct monthly cost and variance analyses, prepare financial reporting, assist with forecasting and annual budgeting, and support internal and external audits. Proficiency in Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and distribution experience are preferred; Spanish is a

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and reconciliation
• Proficient in Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products
• Experience with Alteryx is a plus
• Experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion is a plus
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Familiarity with distribution environments
• Spanish language skills are a plus

The Opportunity

The Distribution Segment is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join the Finance Team. This position provides business analysis and forecasting for various financial and accounting activities in support of the Distribution Segment’s operations. The individual in this role must be comfortable in a distribution environment, exhibit effective communication skills, be a self-starter and able to work independently.

• Direct financial support for numerous locations. This may include support of the Mexico Specialty branch locations along with capital project tracking, review, and planning.
• Perform monthly cost and variance analysis.
• Complete assigned financial reporting needs.
• Provide support for monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes.
• Support activities related to internal and external audit requirements.
• Perform ad hoc analysis, reporting and project support as needed.

What you need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Finance/Accounting)
• 5+ Years experience with financial analysis and reconciliation processes.
• Must be proficient in Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with Alteryx a plus.
• Experience in JD Edwards and Hyperion a plus.
• Good organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with desire and ability to work in a team/collaborative environment.
• Familiar/comfortable in a distribution environment
• Bilingual/Spanish is a plus
