Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer for a hybrid position in Gaithersburg, MD, Eagan, MN, or Egg Harbor Township, NJ, supporting a federal government customer. The candidate will design, develop, and modernize microservices-based applications for real-time, mission-critical transportation systems.

Work in an Agile/SAFe environment, leveraging AI-assisted development tools and DevSecOps practices to support programs impacting millions of travelers nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of relevant software development experience or Master's with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, or similar language in Linux environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile sprint planning, mentor teams, and provide technical leadership.
• Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications with modern software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams in an Agile/SAFe environment to deliver scalable software solutions.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code while supporting CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, automated testing, and system integrations.

The Senior AI Software Developer will design, develop, and modernize microservices-based applications that support real-time, mission-critical transportation systems. • Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance software development, testing, debugging, performance optimization, and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications of the Senior AI Software Developer Include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant software development experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based systems
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C++, or a similar language within a Linux-based environment
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and modern software architecture principles
• Experience with or exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems, intelligent platforms, automation technologies, or AI-assisted development tools
• Must be able to pass a government background check and obtain and maintain a Public Trust government clearance

Compensation of the Senior AI Software Developer Includes:

• Salary range: $150,000 - 170,000
• Comprehensive benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, Holidays, and sick leave as required by law
