Job summary

Asterism IT Solutions is seeking a hands-on Senior Desktop/Software Engineer to design, build, and ship cross‑platform Electron-based desktop apps for macOS and Windows, with AI/LLM integration and enterprise APIs.

The role blends software engineering, desktop UX, security, and enterprise integration in a fast‑paced environment; you will lead release pipelines, mentor engineers, and partner with product and ops to translate complex workflows into efficient desktop solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building production cross-platform desktop apps using Electron or similar frameworks.
• Experience for macOS and Windows.
• Experience designing intuitive, accessible desktop UX.
• Automating workflows into desktop-first apps.
• Desktop capabilities: caching, background tasks, notifications, deep links, file-system, clipboard, multi-window.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM into end-user apps (LLMs, RAG, AI agents, orchestration, conversational/voice interfaces).
• REST, GraphQL, and event-driven services.
• Desktop release/deployment: code signing, notarization, auto-update, CI/CD, enterprise distribution, MDM, crash/perf monitoring, UI testing, phased rollouts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior AI Desktop Engineer to design, build, and ship cross-platform desktop applications that bring enterprise AI capabilities directly into daily workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience building and deploying Electron-based desktop applications for both macOS and Windows, combined with experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities, enterprise APIs, authentication, workflow automation, and secure desktop technologies.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring strong software engineering, desktop application, AI integration, and enterprise integration experience.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Significant hands-on experience building and shipping production cross-platform desktop applications using Electron or comparable frameworks.

• Strong experience developing for both macOS and Windows.

• Experience designing intuitive, accessible, and high-performance desktop user experiences.

• Experience automating manual or fragmented workflows into desktop-first applications.

• Hands-on experience with desktop capabilities including:

  • Local caching and synchronization

  • Background/long-running tasks

  • Native OS notifications

  • Deep links and protocol handlers

  • File-system integration

  • Clipboard integration

  • Multi-window applications

• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into end-user applications, including one or more of:

  • LLMs

  • RAG

  • AI agents

• Experience developing internal productivity or desktop applications for enterprise, corporate, operations, support-center, finance, or similar environments.

• Experience with design systems, accessibility, usability testing, and product analytics.

• Experience with Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Fabric, vector search, prompt orchestration, or agentic AI frameworks.

• Experience with enterprise systems such as Microsoft 365, ERP, ticketing, HRIS, data platforms, or identity providers.

• Experience in retail, restaurant, ecommerce, loyalty, finance, supply chain, or other high-volume enterprise environments.

• Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, business analysts, architects, and engineering teams.

• Experience mentoring engineers through design reviews and code reviews.
