Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is seeking a Senior Accountant Analyst to provide high-level analysis and perform complex accounting tasks to ensure GAAP compliance and support profitability.

The role interfaces with multiple departments, develops reports and financial models, and supports audits. Hiring pay range is provided, and a variety of benefits are offered. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant Analyst provides high-level analysis and performs complex accounting tasks to ensure compliance with standards. The position is responsible to identify, analyze, and monitor issues that affect profitability and growth to business and writing internal accounting memo’s to support/guide the company’s adherence to standards as it relates to changes in facts/circumstances or new accounting pronouncements. The Senior Accountant Analyst recommends, designs, implements controls based on policies, and provides the review and analysis on a variety of areas as assigned. The position interfaces with departments, senior management, third party administrators, and external auditors in order to provide accounting services and/or direction.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes trends for operating results (including inventory management) incurred to predict future trends and shortfalls using data platform and dashboards like Tableau
  • Analyzes variances to identifying the root cause of the reported results as well as working with business owners to propose and implement solutions
  • Develops, maintains and distributes periodic/ad-hoc reports, tools, and financial models that are utilized by various business units to validate data integrity as well as identifies trends, potential opportunities, and areas of risk
  • Conducts workflow analysis and makes recommendations on existing platform for business processes, systems, resource utilization, streamline business processes, identify control enhancements and data along with the appropriate narratives
  • Acts as liaison to various business units, providing support to management to aid in understanding financial results
  • Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures per general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Reviews accounting schedules/reconciliations, responsible for complex accounting areas and resolves discrepancies and irregularities for reporting
  • Assist with both internal and external financial audits

Hiring pay range: $81,386.00 - 85,000.00

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work with large volume of data and draw insights from analytics
  • Strong project-management, problem-solving skills and organization/time management skills; good follow-through on goals, plans, and projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of GAAP and stays current with new regulations and accounting pronouncements from the Financial Accounting Standards Board and Private Company Counsel relating to accounting principles and reporting requirements
  • Have experienced new system/application implementation
  • Advanced computer, software, and technical skills. The ability to work with varied databases and large data sets is required, with advanced excel skills and query skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work productively in an independent setting including oversee other accountants work in remote working environment and to prioritize multiple competing requests
  • Integrity in all dealings with respect for utmost confidentiality
  • Experience in advance excel, Tableau, Hyperion, Infinium, are a plus
  • Highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character
  • Detail oriented and strategic. Able to see the forest for the trees
  • Hands-on and ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced and ambiguous environment to meet deadlines
  • Self-starter who loves taking initiative and proactively provides suggestions for how to streamline and improve processes

Experience:

7 minimum years related experience

Education:

4 Year/Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training

Other Requirements:

Some travel required. Occasional Saturday work and overtime is required.
