Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Senior Accountant to partner with NBC News and the broader accounting team in New York. You will coordinate monthly close deliverables, prepare journal entries, and ensure controls and policies are followed.

The role requires a Bachelor in Accounting or Finance, 2+ years in accounting, and strong technical skills; CPA or public accounting experience is preferred. Hybrid schedule with four days in NYC office.

  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance with progression.
  • Experience in media/entertainment industry preferred.

Job Description

The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting. This role will be responsible for assisting with accounting aspects of the business, and requires understanding of accounting and the ability to partner with the NBC News organization, as well as NBCUniversal’s various business units.

  • Responsible for the coordination and/or preparation of monthly/quarterly close deliverables.
  • Maintain and complete assigned Blackline account reconciliations, ensuring timely certification, proper backup, and resolution of reconciling items
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry.
  • Assist controllership function and ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Research ways of streamlining and standardizing processes within designated area of responsibility
  • Assist with adhoc requests and deliverables
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance, with demonstrated progression
  • Experience in media/entertainment industry preferred
  • Technical skills, including ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to business transactions
  • CPA & Public Accounting experience, preferred
