Job summary

Qualifications

• GAAP and/or STAT accounting and reporting experience.
• Familiarity with investment reporting standards and ability to apply knowledge in the preparation of investment disclosures and Stat schedules.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field; CPA a plus.
• 2+ years of accounting, reporting or finance experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; TM1, Wdesk, Sovos, and Microsoft Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly close of investment results for The Hartford including reconciliations between the investment accounting platform, the investment sub-ledger and the general ledger.
• Preparation and analysis of investment sections of statutory statements, disclosures, and supplements.
• Monitoring NAIC designations to make sure STAT reports are in compliance with NAIC requirements.
• Gather required documents for NAIC filings and submit the filing on time.
• Actively participate in NAIC and interested party discussions around exposure drafts.
• Understand GAAP and statutory guidance to provide assistance on the implementation of new accounting standards and investment strategies.
• Prepare analytics for senior management explaining primary drivers of asset movements.
• Support Sarbanes documentation and continuously monitor internal controls.
• Drive automation improvements and projects, including standardized variance analysis, utilizing AI and other internal applications.
• Ownership over the creation of various internal monthly and quarterly management reporting tools and metrics.
