CoServ is seeking a SQL Server DBA 2 to join its IT Database Administration team. The role focuses on ongoing operations, security, and integrity of SQL Server databases in a 24x7 utility environment.

The position involves hands-on production DBA work, project support, and after-hours on-call rotations. A strong background in backup/recovery, security, and performance tuning is required.

Qualificações

• 3+ years of consecutive SQL Server database administration experience.
• Experience with backup/recovery, security patching, and upgrades.
• Windows OS experience and change management.
• Experience with SSRS/SSIS is preferred.
• Ability to participate in after-hours on-call schedule.

Responsabilidades

The SQL Server DBA 2 position assists the DBA Team with implementing, administering, and maintaining policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of CoServ’s SQL Server databases in a mission critical, 24x7x365 utility business environment. The SQL Server DBA 2 will spend most of their time providing the ongoing operations and support for CoServ’s deployed SQL Server database systems although, to a lesser extent, time will be spent on enterprise or departmental projects by assisting in the development of project plans, documentation, database system architecture design, capacity planning, database installation or upgrade, best practice determination, timely completion of project tasks and providing status updates. They will participate in a rotating, after hours on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

Primary Position Responsibilities

• Hard Skill Responsibilities
  • Must be available to respond via personal smart phone during working and non-working hours. Smart phones will be registered with the CoServ Mobile Data Management system.
  • Experience in all facets of hands-on production database administration including:
  • Backup and recovery management
  • New installations of SQL Server software
  • Upgrade and patching of SQL Server databases
  • Database security, monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning and daily maintenance automation
  • SQL Server Standard Edition add-ons and tools. (SSRS, SSIS, etc.)
  • Disaster Recovery/Business Continuance planning and testing
  • Best practice deployment of developed code to production database environments

  • Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.

Secondary Position Responsibilities

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
• 3+ years of consecutive SQL Server database administration experience, to include some experience with add-on SQL Server services.
• Solid understanding of and experience with SQL Server database restore and recovery techniques and best practices.
• Experience with database security patching programs and processes.
• Experience with the Windows operating system.
• Solid understanding of and experience with Change Management.

Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred

• Experience with project methodologies.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with SQL Server database replication approaches and technologies.
• Experience with SQL Server encryption
• Experience with disk storage technologies.
• Experience with server virtualization and cloud technologies.
• Experience with other database systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL, etc.).
• Technical writing/documentation preparation experience.

Skills and Abilities Required

• Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Physical Requirements

• Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, printer, copier, etc.
• Indoor, office environment.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Ability to drive occasionally as needed.

• Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Works extended hours as needed or directed.

Other Requirements

• Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license (if applicable).
• Ability to acquire CDL driver’s License (if applicable).
• Must have reliable home high-speed Internet service for situations where remote work is necessary.
