Spalding, a Saalex Company, seeks a SQL Server Database Administrator in Lexington Park, MD, for hybrid work. You will manage SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS across on‑premise and AWS, ensuring STIG compliance and high availability.

Requirements include 7+ years of SQL Server experience (or 9 years with HS), along with Security+ certification. Onsite presence ~2 days weekly near Patuxent River. On-call rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or AA/AS degree with 7+ years related SQL Server experience required.
• HS with 9+ years related experience acceptable.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required (proof before interview).
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS on premise and AWS.
• Configure SQL Server instances to meet DoD STIG requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, storage, networking teams to resolve issues.
• Work with developers to configure databases, accounts, jobs, and mail.
• Troubleshoot databases, schemas, and user accounts; manage backups.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, security plans, and STIG checklists.
• Assist with cloud migration of on-premise databases to cloud environments.

Spalding, a Saalex Company is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator in Lexington Park, MD. Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $130k-$160k annually (depending upon experience)

Work Location: Hybrid work schedule.

Onsite Requirements: Candidates are required to work onsite at PAX approximately 2 days per week and must reside within 90 miles of Patuxent River, MD. Rotating on-call requirements.

Essential Functions

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server database engine, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and related products in on premise and AWS cloud environments.
• Configure SQL Server instances to ensure compliance to DoD STIGs.
• Work with systems administration, storage, networking and web teams to resolve connection and performance issues.
• Work with software engineers to configure and test databases, accounts, mail, jobs, etc.
• Troubleshoot databases, schemas, and user accounts.
• Configure and recover database backups.
• Perform daily checks of databases, backups, exports, jobs, and storage.
• Maintain team documentation, including inventory, security plans, SOPs, guides and STIG checklists.
• Assist with re-platforming and migration of government on-premise databases and schemas to cloud environments:
• Communicate and work with cloud migration SMEs, system/web administrators, and data center personnel to verify and update database migration plan, specifications, actions, and tasking.
• Create and maintain SQL Server database cloud migration documentation including detailed SOPs and checklists.
• Adhere to cloud migration schedules.
• Track, document, and provide progress on database migrations.
• Report issues and risks to cloud project manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required

• Systems-level 2016/2019/2022 SQL Server administration experience required.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization required.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required (must show proof of cert prior to interview).
• BS/BA or AA/AS degree and 7+ years related experience OR OR HS and 9 years related experience.

Desired

• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server Profiler preferred.
• Experience with scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell) preferred.
• Experience with HA solutions for SQL including FCI and AAG a plus.
• Experience with migrating existing SQL Server databases to cloud-based (AWS) environments a plus.
• Experience with Rubrik, AWS RDS, Sybase, Oracle, and other RDBMS' a plus.

Education

• BS/BA or AA/AS degree and 7+ years related experience OR OR HS and 9 years relatedexperience.

Security Clearance

• Active TS/SSBI clearance desired or active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SSBI. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
