Qualifications

Job description

The work

You will evaluate AI-generated SQL queries, database designs, and data-processing logic. Your reviews will focus on whether the work is correct, clear, efficient, and faithful to the original problem.

You will also create strong reference answers and explain your reasoning so AI systems can improve on complex SQL and database tasks.

  • Review SQL queries, database designs, and data-processing logic produced by AI.
  • Find problems in methodology, query structure, indexing, and conceptual reasoning.
  • Fact-check data-related claims and assess correctness, clarity, and performance.
  • Write detailed reference solutions and step-by-step explanations for complex SQL and database problems.
  • Rate and compare multiple AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality.
  • Apply SQL and database engineering expertise to AI training and evaluation.
What it pays and takes

This is a remote, part-time contractor role with hourly pay. You must be available in one of the approved countries and have expert-level SQL and database experience.

  • Pay: $50 per hour.
  • Time: 20+ hours per week.
  • Location: Remote; open to qualified contractors in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
  • Language: Clear written and spoken English.
  • Experience: Expert-level SQL, including complex joins, window functions, aggregation, and query plan analysis.
  • Database knowledge: Performance tuning, indexing strategies, concurrency or locking issues, relational models, schemas, and data warehouse structures.
  • Data engineering: Hands-on ETL or ELT experience and familiarity with cloud or on-premises data platforms.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical field.
  • Work practices: Comfort with version control, CI/CD practices, and collaborative database workflows.
Helpful background

Experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content is helpful. A methodical approach is important because the work involves finding subtle problems in data and queries.

  • Experience designing star schemas and snowflake schemas.
  • Familiarity with database changes, migrations, backup and recovery planning, and monitoring.
